Ebay thread

Postby munga » Sun Oct 20, 2013 9:24 pm

did a quick search, didn't find one, made one - here it is.

saw this and wanted to share:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Manitou-Hard ... 76a&_uhb=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

might be in the too-hard basket for most, but might be worth it for the components alone.

Definitely parts only IMO, I would be very sceptical of repairing the frame. Still very cool, as is the Stumpy.

Are these wheels worth it at the asking price, or still useless? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/231129996479 ... 1423.l2649" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

for $50 you can't go wrong... i dare say they'll go for at least $100 though.

Surprisingly, stayed at $46!

I decided I didn't need a second spare set enough to go to the effort of getting skewers, rotors and a cassette.

Just don't remove the back wheel....
Apparently one of the major problems was from people running screw on clusters and having slightly bent axles. Every time you remove and replace the rear wheel it flexed the tips slightly differently until they work-hardened enough that they cracked.
Or, just run a cassette and make sure your axles aren't bent!

mine takes a 130mm hub so no worries. never noticed any of the flexing you describe. makes complete sense tho.

I don't know much about it, but this old Kona looks hot and start price seems cheap. Shame about the ding in the top tube:

Cool. Why wouldn't you dust and clean it before selling? Seller says he will dust before shipping but can't be bothered trying to make it look 100% in the pics, just stupid.

Stupid delivery times too, and poor communications if ordering new, once they have your money. There's one guy who has been waiting over two years IIRC. Understandably he's pretty pissed off and has posted to a few forums relating his experience when the subject comes up.
