I thought it was getting busier earlier on, but with nice weather and lighter mornings the numbers of riders skyrocketed this morning.

A bit quiet this morning, maybe the forecast for isolated showers, maybe everyone takes Friday off to rest of the weekend pelotons? I did my 20km commute from Jandakot to the CBD and only got passed once (giant flat bar with an electric assist front hub) and I'm pretty slow at the moment after a long winter off the bike. Good to be pedalling.

I'm about to head off to start the weekend, nothing on the radar?
Definitely quieter than the busier fine days this week.

Ended up copping 40kph gusts on Friday arvo, overcast but no rain. I know, I know, "harden up princess". I just hate riding into a head wind, makes commuting feel like a chore. May experiment with music/podcasts in one earphone to see if it's enough of a distraction.

I did feel it Friday along the length of Riverside Drive, it's only the beginning 3km for me and it's much nicer than work so no complaints with the scenery moving by more slowly. Turning north at Narrows feels sheltered or tail wind so probably easier than you had it.

I use an mp3 and sealing/noise reducing headphone bud in the left ear, adding the right bud the rare times that wind chill is blasting the ear drum and am now not wearing winter ear warmer headband. In fact I think I did that Friday arvo on Riverside Drive, it was pretty choppy on the water. Without it my mind is usually busy with observational and tangential thoughts, so when the mp3 battery is flat it's a moment of disappointment, before forgetting it.

Only light easterly that was hardly a headwind at times this morning, the cold legs seemed to take 20km to wake up and work for the last 3km, nice 25°C today so the ride home should be beautiful, slight tail wind to help. I'm looking forward to the isolated showers forecast for Wednesday as an excuse to ride a bike with mudguards that needs updates tested.

First ride in nearly 2 weeks after a bout of a nasty virus.
Perfect weather which was nice, but the lungs and heart rate was complaining loudly.

Glad to be back into it

After a variable five weeks the sun is finally looking a little more certain in Perth.

For the first time in months I travelled light, leaving the backpack with the beany and the spray jacket and the pancho and the... and took the fanny bag instead. I had forgotten how much easier it is to steer and control without all that extra weight tied to me.

The birds are all coming out in droves too. Saqw my first cygnets yesterday. Heaps of pelicans, wild ducks and so forth. And some of those damned Portuguese millipedes are starting to make their move as well.

Same, same. You should try mowing!

I have been on "one a day" hayfever tabs for the last week. I usually would not take them for more than 2 or 3 days in a row but riding and mowing has meant that I suffer if I don't.

On the topic of perth weather, dang it was cold this morning!

Weather is good... pit about the blokes who haven't bought new knicks, the suns out again (it's not dark anymore), so everyone should buy new knicks, I saw some hairy arses today... and informed them that I could see the cracks in their riding ability....

have a trowel and some plaster cement handy for when they argue that their knicks are not worn out. Doing us a all a service by covering up cracks that could cause an accident

Are you talking plumber cracks or see-through knicks?

My son has just moved to Toodyay. Any suggestions for good rides in that area?
