Cycling group for weekend rides - Sydney

Postby cyclebee » Thu Nov 07, 2013 9:33 pm

Is there a group of like-minded people (road bike riders) in the Sydney North Shore area to do rides on the weekends (prefer early morning Sundays). I live in the Crows Nest Area. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Try Bike North. Rides from Easy to Hard. Indeed, this Sunday there are easy, medium and hard graded rides.

Thanks, but their rides start in Hornsby. Also, been looking at the Renegades Group, and they start from Lane Cove, which is much closer. So that might be a goer.
I guess I can always get a bike carrier and ride to the start point.

The Three Gorges ride on Sunday starts at Turramurra Station.

Just for your information - one of the ride leaders for Bike North I have worked with (until he retired just a few months ago) and he is a realy nice guy. His name is Ian and he has mentioned to me a number of times that there are rides on the weekends that suit may styles of riders and a many different locations. There is even rides out west starting from Seven Hills railway station and going in a loop out to Rouse Hill.

cyclebee - you may wish to checkout the various start points to see if there is one that suits; also if their other ride leaders are even 1/4 as nice as my mate Ian you will be in for an enjoyable friendly ride.
Not fast, no style, but still get there.

Pretty common in Sydney :) I do a lot of mid week rides on my own and often chuck the bike in the back of the fiat 500 and drive to a start point at Hornsby or Berowra.

I ride with Sydney Uni Velo and ride from home (Chatswood) to and from the start point at Centennial Park and it's nice way to get a few extra KM's in.

There is an informal balmoral tri club group which leaves from the great northern hotel on Sundays at around 630. I also think that Peleton/Turramurra have a similar meet point that then meets the main ride in Turramurra - might be worth emailing the club to find out.
