My psl-1 rear wheel is way out of true, although the front is good. I have checked the spoke tension (by hand) and they feel ok.
I have had the bike for 4 months, although I train and commute up to 350 to 400ks a week.
During the free first service I asked the LBS to have a look at the rear wheel as it was very slightly out of true. I was told this was within tolerances.
It has become alot worse in the last month, so I need to get the wheel back to them.
I have to say I love the bike, and do not regret buying it for a moment.

There's a lot to be said for good old fashion 32/36 hole wheels built with DT db spokes, Mavic rims and Shimano hubs. They probably weigh within 200g of the Giant wheels, are as tough as nails under the heaviest rider and easy to repair if you break a spoke. I have one set of wheels that's going on 25 years old and have replaced one spoke in all that time. God knows how many km's they have done.

my $45 alex da 16 rimmed, shimano 2200 hubbed, 32 whateva spoked, Reid Cycles specials are proving pretty good too
Probably weigh within 2kg of those giant wheels :)
They are grinding away a tad under wet braking though

Just bought a Propel which came with the Giant PSL Aero 50mm clinchers... they didn't even make it onto the bike, went out and picked up some DA9000 50mm clinchers. Other bike, a Defy, came with some giant brand wheels also (20 and 24 hole from memory), busted 3 spokes in a short time frame so I cracked the poos and picked up some RS80 50mm clinchers. Fantastic! I'm somewhat of a man mountain so one of my key questions was are they rated high enough and they had said the Giant wheels will cop up to 125kgs... apparently not! Hence why the new wheels never went on the new bike!

I stated this thread and clearly there has been issues with these wheels but to Giants credit they seem to be swapping faulty wheelsets with a similar Shimano wheelset, just to let everyone know the RS61s that I was given under warranty have been bullet proof and are as straight and true as the day I got them a almost a year ago, so it was not my riding style or weight that was making me snap spokes it was inferior straight pull spokes.

Interesting that mine have been pretty good so far on the TCR Advanced I have (which you've seen I think). I'm hoping I haven't jinxed them by saying that. Quite dependable so far, though I don't put massive amounts of weight through them.

I'm wary of the issues though and keep an eye on them.

The rider I mentioned is a fair bit heavier than you and puts out a lot of power. You should be ok.

I have 2013 Giant Defy Adv 2. It's only 3 months old and I've had no problems with spokes breaking.

However I do only weigh 52 kg :P

Yep. I had heard this. My PSLR-1's were swapped for DA C24's without me even suggesting it.

My mate has been through a few stems too. He is running alloy bars, not the flexi carbon ones though.

Problem is lack of choice to replace it due to OD2 - but it's an easy swap at the shop, no arguments.

I had my first spoke break in Oct, had it replaced and haven't had another yet. Wheels are both still true.

If another goes I will try and hit up the LBS for a replacement set. The bike is now over a year old so I am not sure if its still covered.

Had my first spoke break after 5500km, hopefully it's a one-off and not a sign of dodgy wheels :(

Heard a loud twang while riding, lucky it happened in a fairly safe spot i guess?
Didn't know what was broken at first, just the front wheel wouldn't turn, so i thought the brake cable had snapped or something (from the twang sound), then looked down and realised i had a walk ahead of me, god damn the ground was hot today.

When my rear wheel spoke broke I was on a trail about 4km from the nearest train station...just twisted the broken spoke around the one next to it and continued riding to the station. As long as you take it easy there's no problems with doing this. Bugger walking.

Maybe if i was further out i would have considered it, but the front wheel was rubbing the front brake due to the broken spoke as well... and i wasn't sure what kind of extra damage riding on it might do to the wheel.

Higher spoke count rims don't usually even hit the pads when they break a spoke. I broke a spoke over 20Km from home. Just wrapped it and rode home. Didn't even notice a change in the way the 32 spoke front wheel rode.
