Looks good. Pity the battery is only about 2 hours, which is neither here nor there. I quick look and I couldn't see any higher capacity batteries available either.

I'm looking for 3-4 hrs of battery life, so a Mobius with external battery as shown above is a better option for me atm, I think.

I just purchased a Contour 2 +

Given that the company are in trouble - there are bargains to be had if you are willing to take a bit of a risk. But so far so good for me! I also prefer the look of it any day over the GoPro hero2, which may be a better camera, but looks like it would get smashed off your helmet as soon as you rode under a low tree:

Anyone interested in the Contour, I've tried to write up some options to help those buying one who cant get the supporting software any more. Good luck!

Or another mount entirely ?
Ahhh! Interesting! I need one of those for my new Liquid Motion Ego camera. I've currently got a very messy looking velcro strap looped through a flat mount for mine- and that is around the stem. It's not elegant, but it works, just.

Anyone know of any mounts that would hold both the camera and a Garmin?

Haha Tim, who would have thought?

Just got the camera yesterday - no memory card for it yet either, it's like giving a kid a toy with no batteries! :D

haha - I'm one of those photographers who seems to avoid being in photos, didn't you know.

In any case, the camera isn't operational yet and I don't plan on using it unless I'm riding on the road somewhere.

All you video camera wielding louts just WANT to be hit, that's why you have video cameras! If you didn't WANT to be hit you wouldn't have cameras!

... or at least that's what this idiot over in the UK is saying. http://www.standard.co.uk/news/politics ... 55248.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Contour ROAM2 on order. Held off when I saw the company get in trouble, but it looks like they're being given a lifeline so hopefully all goes well after that. I'd love a gopro for the best possible picture quality, but eventually decided the ergonimcs were just too wrong & limiting for the usage I wanted (stood up/out too much for helmet mounting, can't mount upside down or sideways on bars on the bike and have picture the right way). Contour seemed to have the second best picture quality in all comparison reviews of different action cameras I saw, with the ergonomics & mounts I was after.

Not trying to talk you in our out of any purchase, and a bit late anyway, but a gopro can be mounted upside down & turn the pic the right way up. Not aware of it being able to be mounted sideways though

Couple of tips on this.

For MTB the best aspect is obtained from a chest mount rather than helmet. The gopro works well in this position (they make a specific chest harness).

When you do mount a gopro on the helmet, avoid the top mount as shown in the photo.

The better alternative is the Front Mount solution. I have this setup on my ski helmet.

I was wondering why Contour was so quite... all is revealed.
BikeBiz wrote:Contour saved by Clarke Capital buyout
Contour has announced its purchase by Clarke Capital Partners, with a relaunch due in the next few weeks. A fee of $1.925 million was paid by Clarke Capital, who were already a backer of the camera firm, which closed abruptly at the end of August. The firm has since announced plans to support its retail partners with new marketing drives, creating demand for the Contour Roam 2 and +2 cameras. source

Makes sense!

But I went for a contour in the end...with a range of mounts I'm trying out.

All good so far, its a quality piece of kit. Glad to hear Contour have found some finance again too :D

Does the WoMo mount move much (up down)?

What kind of bike is that - looks like a presentation display and steerer tubes and front and back handlebars are not that common :)

I see that the Drift camera (ghost) is updated and available for sub 400 big ones. Claims to be 3.5h battery life at 60fps 1080. If that's the case, I'd consider one as my 2 go pro are bloody crappy when it comes to battery life

Please let us know when Contour is back up and running website wise if you find out. As will I if I find out first. I would like to update my firmware; but I am risk adverse in using the files I can see on the web that aren't official. Thanks in advance!
