GIVEAWAY 3x2 tickets to Wiggle Bendigo Belter

Postby AUbicycles » Fri Nov 22, 2013 12:46 pm

For the December 8. 2013 Wiggle Bendigo Belter, the event organiser is offering BNA forum members and readers the change of 3 double (3x2) entries to the event. This will save you between $133 and $178 depending upon which event distance you choose - 74km Fun, 123km Classic and 154km Epic.

I have to make this a 'game of skill' to satisfy the regulators - but will make it easy to take part.

Simply makeup a single word that doesn't already exist and the three funniest ones win (less than 250 characters) .
For example, Frampenamadoodledandy.... pretty easy, hit reply and let me hear yours.

There hasn't been been much in the way of talk about the ride this year on the forums so i figured this is just as good as thread as any to talk about it.

It looks like a change in the route this year so that anyone doing the fun route will not be going over Mount Alexander but instead heading along dirt roads to Sutton Grange and then back to Bendigo. The Classic and Epic routes do howver get to tackle the Mount http://www.strava.com/segments/760028.

A couple of folks wrote blogs on last year's edition of which it was the first ever Wiggle ride in Bendigo/Australia. The Climbing Cyclist http://theclimbingcyclist.com/the-wiggl ... lter-2012/ and Laura Siddall http://www.laurasiddall.com/index.php/b ... per-series. These are a good source of information about the ride and what can be expected.

The only let down last year was the lack of feed stations along the route along with the quality of refreshments on offer. I also completed the 125km Wiggle Mornington ride earlier this year and I have to say that that area improved significantly with banana bread, biscuits, lollies along with the previously only supplied energy bars and gels. Water and powdered drink mix were also supplied and the amount of stations increased to provide 25km intervals.

I received an email this morning giving me 50% off the list price so up until then the price had risen from $55 to $90. Now a very reasonable $45 for the Epic has me eyeing my first 100 miler (by the time I ride to the start and home again).

I highly recommend the ride as we have some great riding country here in Bendigo. Hilly with decent roads without the abundance of traffic that was prevalent at the Mornington ride.

Im here til tommorow and thinking I can make use of the time and fit in an early bunch ride. So far Ive figured out one starts from the fountain in the city centre and another from Sternberg st roundabout. Can anybody offer any additional info like which ones hilly or flat and what kind of pace do they do? Thanks in advance.

Sorry mate didn't see this.
Sternberg st roundabout is the go this time of year. Good rides Tuesday and Thursday (AT) 8am and most other weekdays this time of year. The Tuesday one gets pretty fast with a number of professional cyclist taking part. Fun hanging off the back.
Saturday's there are heaps of cyclists there from 7 am with bunches regularly departing til about 7:30 ish
Heaps of great bunches if you ever come back anyway. :)

No probs, I think I picked the wrong one, went to the fountain and nobody was there so guessed my way around the area I kinda knew.

As for the ride, was 100% better organised than last year, just a shame there wasn't many riders.

Glad to hear they're improving. I enjoyed it last year and wanted to go again but Baw Baw was calling...
