Cycling Vancouver to San Diego

Hi all, looking to cycle from Vancouver down the west coast of the USA to San DIego, starting about march next year, anyone have any tips? Looking to take basic camping but not cooking gear on a cannondale touring bike with rear panniers only. Camping in official sites only and hotels/backpackers maybe a couple of times a week. Was thinking of taking the pacific highway but not sure if there are better ways, cheers!

I hope you have good wet weather gear!
I did Seattle to Eugene 20 yrs ago with Adventure Cycling and vividly remember how wet it was even in the middle of summer!
