Cycling to Woodford Folk Festival

Anyone heading off to the Woodford Folk Festival might benefit from the Cycle to Woodford scheme, which is run by organisers to encourage cycling as a good way to reach the Festival grounds (known as Woodfordia).

The scheme is sponsored by Paddington shop Epic Cycles, and for Season Ticket holders offers:

A free luggage service. Drop off gear at the Epic Cycle shop by December 23, and we deliver it to the site. Then return it January 2.

Separate camping area – Cyclist Camping. It’s fenced off, a pleasant location by a creek fringed with rainforest, and has a marquee for safe undercover bicycle parking and socialising.

Also a partner-riding service, and mechanical help at the site.

Priority at the ticket-gate – “Push-bikes may Push in.”

Many cyclists use the train/bicycle combination. Citytrain to Caboolture, Beerburrum or Beerwah train stations, then ride about 30 kms to the Festival. The best ride is from Beerwah. Full details from the Cycle to Woodford Guide/Map available for download from:

Otherwise there are a number of different routes all the way from Brisbane, ranging from the mundane to the mountainous.

If it's specifically when riding on a narrow or dirt back road then yes no worries, but on a main road that is asking for trouble, on the D'ag in particular you need to ride big for cars to pass safely. That said, I've ridden that way a bit, and have had basically no problems at all.
