Looking like a healthy show. We should do the 21st anyway. Maybe leave the 28th open as a possibility, though my wife has to work the non-public hols, so may not look too kindly on 2 in a row; for which I don't blame her.
Let's try and finalise a route by about Wed., and do a final roll-call Friday evening. :|
Well, no, it's not a pushbike, otherwise I'd be pushing it...

Shall map one over the next day or so, if you want. I'll be just happy to get back into it; plan to ride to work at least 2~3 days next week; been difficult to do it this week.
I'm liking this idea! The last few rides we've done have all been through Western Sydney, so this will be something different.

Strathfield Stn > Cooks River>Yarra Bay & swim at Yarra Bay sounds like a great idea, much better than Yarra Bay > Strathfield with a swim in the Cooks River

Pity I will be in Port Macquarie both weekends. I will be back in January & should be free for a ride on most weekends

Bruce is the one going to Port Mac, not me. I'm hoping I can make the ride! It sounds like a good one, thanks for taking the time to map it.

my 2c. :D
Here is the April ride
http://connect.garmin.com/activity/304379278

met and started in Tempe, some ppl took trains to Sydenham or Redfern. We had brekky break at Malabar. Some bike paths, mostly on shared roads, traffic generally light.

I'll put something up by tonight. Nothing complicated/fancy, though. Strathfield's a good starting point, as we can access the Cook's river path fairly easily from there, plus a bonus for me... fast train from Hornsby. :)
The only slight negative about the Cooks River path is the kiddie numbers/walkers build up during the morning. Maybe an alternative route home for you guys. I may head to Redfern Station to head home; depending on the time.
You guys OK for an early start? (summer solstice is Sunday)... :D Nominate your earliest convenient starting time and I'll average them.

Why not... But we'll wait for the rest of the poll.

Here's the route. Straightforward, and we've all done it numerous times, I think. On the return route, I'll likely peel off at Point #16. --> Redfern Stn.
A pre-holiday doddle, if that's OK with y'all.

The 21st is looking to be a cooler day, so I dont reckon we need to start soo early. 6:30am sounds better to me.

In regards to the route, the Boulevarde and Hume are big roads, but at that time it should be empty enough to ride on. Austyn, does that sound about right? Any other ways to get to the Cooks whilst avoiding big roads?

Yeah, I'm a little iffy about riding on those but it should be ok. I usually ride something similar to this though: http://www.strava.com/activities/91730256" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (part around my house is probably shrouded) but we don't need to take the Boulevard nor Hume (we'll use the pedestrian crossing at the intersection). I'm happy to play guinea pig and ride up the Boulevard on the morning to meet you all at the station and scout the traffic beforehand and then decide which roads to take on the way back to Cooks :)

I'm ok with 6am or 6:30am too. Probably prefer 6am but fine with either.

Only reason I want it a bit later is due to the Rookwood cemetary gates only being open at sunrise(5:40am I think). Unless there is another way I can get there, maybe though Lidcombe, and follow Crescent past Flemington and Homebush stations.
