Adelaide airport camping

Hi Guys,
I know it's a bit short notice,but I land in Adelaide on December 24th and wondered if someone could tell me where I can find a campsite near the airport?
I am cycling from the UK to NZ, so will somewhere to assemble my bike, not sure if they will allow me to do this at the airport.

Failing that, I could stay in a hotel the first night I guess.

I also wanted to ask if it's possible to wild camp in South Australia?

My plan is to cycle as much of the coastline as possible from Adelaide,to Melbourne to Sydney.

Adelaide Shores caravan park is next to the airport. Probably 2km by road though.

There are some homeless people wild camping in the parklands... I think it's illegal but the authorities let it slide as it may be the lesser of two evils...

I'm also arriving at Adelaide airport at 9pm and probably won't be out of the airport until 10pm. Emailed Adelaide shores camping and was quoted 46 dollars for 1 night. I'll be on a bike with a tint tent. Just ridiculous, so I'm almost inclined to just crash outside the airport. I read they close the airport between 11-4. Will I be harrassed if I sleep on a bench ? Not familiar with the area, so riding downtown to a backpackers in the dark and jetlagged might be a challenge..haha..

I must admit I normally don't click on links in peoples signatures but I was interested to see how Rob (post 1) got on in relation to his camping situation.
From what I have read so far the blog written by Rob is quite entertaining and details what is an amazing journey.

I have no connection with Rob and only clicked on the thread as I was interested in what circumstances somebody would want to camp at Adelaide airport

Camp in the west terrace parklands... U should be right... Or down the beach...

Lol... the beach might be ok, but you'd be mad to sleep in the parklands.
