Touring Australia. Tubeless or with tube?

Hi guys!
i recently bought a Salsa Fargo for my touring adventure in Australia. i will start in few days, riding from SYD to MEL, but i want to replace the tyres, 'cause they are too wide.
I'll choose something that could allow me to do road and some off road in Tasmania next month. My concern is: should i do tubeless or with tube?
What experience and recommendations do you have?

How wide is "too wide"?

Everyone I know in the touring world uses tubes. Realistically, for security you're going to beed to carry spare tubes, even with tubeless. I see minimal advantage for a loaded cycletour.

i saw the scwhalbe hurricane, they look good, did you try those ones?

No, never used them. That type of tyre is a fairly poor perfomer on tarmac - the side knobs reduce your traction in turns, just where you need the traction.

For touring use I can recommend the Schwalbe Marathon Mondial as a truly tough, long-lasting tyre. Also the Vittoria Randonneur Cross - my top tyre for puncture protection and wear. Marathon Supremes are allegedly also very good, a lighter tyre but still very good life and puncture resistance.

Don't see mondials nor Supremes available in 29"? You may well be restricted in that size for touring tyres... at the moment.

Marathon Mondial 29" - lots more at cheaper prices from overseas, like bike24, c r c, xxcyxles, Wiggle maybe, etc. And if you go for the Vittoria Randonneur Cross there is a much bigger range of widths in 700C.

Yeah, it's a pretty stupid and confusing bike trade misnomer, for what benefit to the consumer I have no idea in the slightest 29" is a crazy term to use as they are actually smaller than the old 27" size...... go figure ????
