Well burnt some of the carbs off this morning with a ride to Beachmere and didn't see anyone out that way. :)

Good one Foo, I've not ridden my road bike for over a week now, we've gone for a couple of local mountain bike rides instead.

Well got my last ride for the year in this morning, before jumping back in the truck in a few hours. That gives me 214klms for the week and I have not done that in over 30yrs. Wooohooo :D

So I started the year off by doing the right thing and going for a ride, only to find at the end of it bloody Strava stopped login the ride after 11klms.

Let the number of rides this year be more than last year.

Well I went out at 4am this morning to beat the heat and humidity............fail. I was definitely the only dopey one out but sure was a hell of a lot better than going out at 6am.

First bunch ride of the year done and dusted! :D There was about a dozen there this morning and they road a bit harder than normal. :( Add in the stinkin head wind that just change around so that I had it in my face, for most of the time to.

I got home and the Missus looked at me and laughed. Said sorry, I shouldn't laugh but you look knackered!

Was very happy with the new seat as my sit bones didn't get sore and the ride position is slightly different with this seat, so all in all I think we will have a good partnership together.

Was out having a bike fit tune up ride and hooked up with an unexpected group ride. 8)

If anyone is interested, they leave from the sports store on First Avenue at 6am (fast) and 6.30am (slower) I was lucky enough to meet the slower bunch!

Paddles the speed is 25-30kmh and if you have a look at my Strava link, this will give you some idea of the loop, just forget about the mainland side to the Island. Then add in the section over to the Eastern side of the Island from my other rides but I may have a better one after this mornings ride for you.

Your strava map spun me out a bit by using that old construction road out the back of Pac Harbour, I've never even thought to ride on it. Nice little lap though, that'd be a good ride coupled in with a trip over to Woorim. I never knew there was a Saturday group, I thought there was only a Friday group from Bongaree and a Sunday group from the surf club. We've been sticking with our little 28km Beachmere loop and throwing in an occasional run to Sandstone at 45km but I might have to go over and try the Saturday ride because I think the Friday and Sunday ones will be a bit quick for me.

You've probably chosen good weekend to not be at Bribie anyway, the triathlon is on this weekend and it gets ridiculously busy.

Well I did the full ride with the Saturday morning bunch and have to say, this is a very nice group for those that are like me (fat and unfit) but still gives you a very nice roll that makes you work a bit. For those that are fit, well you just stay in the smaller gears and use it as a spin session with a sprint to a coffee shop at the end. 8)

Hey Foo, that's a great lap, does that Saturday group leave from Bribie Sports and Cycles down at the waterfront at the end of first avenue?

Thanks Foo, if I can make it over there i'll drop you a message and we'll catch up one Saturday morning. I haven't ridden in a group for over 20 years so it'll be a delightful shock to my system after riding either solo or with only one or two others for a long time.
