Snake!
Postby Timeonabike » Mon Dec 30, 2013 11:22 pm
I tried to let oncoming traffic know, but dunno if the message got thru though at speed.
Anyone else see it?
Cheers

If I had seen it, I think speed records would have been broken, as I got as far away from it as possible.

They weren't moving.

On a happier note, we saw a big goanna Sunday arvo sunning itself across the trail during our mountain bike ride through Cascades. Lazy thing didn't want to move until we got off our bikes and shooed it into the bushes.

My rule at this time of the year if it looks like a stick on the PSP it is probably a snake.
Last year I was seeing a snake every third or fourth commute from Kwinana to the CBD.
Up until last year, always managed to avoid them. Ran over two last year, both about 1.8m long. One was just over a little rise, did not see it till a couple metres away, to late. The second I spotted maybe 10m away, options brake and maybe hit it at slow speeed, take crazy evasive action and possibly deck the bike in front of the snake or hit it straight on, I took option c with a little bunny hop, front wheel cleared it , rear wheel didn't.
When I turned my head, neither where on the path (or attached to the bike)

Happy 2014 to all!
I'm in the units just south of Russell road and we've had a snake there too, also saw a fox on the psp about 500m south about a week ago. I love seeing the wildlife as long as it leaves me alone!!
