Laprade Seatpost 25.0 x 300mm+
Postby Dezza » Sun Jan 05, 2014 4:11 pm
I'm looking for a Laprade style (single bolt, adjustable pitch) seatpost with 25.0mm diameter and length upwards of 300mm to suit a 1983 Vitus roadbike. Darn French and their unusual part dimensions.
I've seen quite a few MTB posts which are 25 x 400 but they look to have a different seatclamp. Need to ensure the clamp can adjust saddle pitch. Would prefer a setback style for that authentic vintage (well, 1983) look. Alloy would give me weight savings over steel if I get the choice. Fluted style would make it even more authentic.
Any ideas folks?

Kalloy 25.0mm Black/ polished paint off. 400mm, $20 + post, used once for build
and then found a Laprade full alloy to compliment polished SS
and then a Campag one showed up

Thanks to both of you. I'll keep my eye on the fleabay one and get back to you Saro28.
Meanwhile that blue fluted one looks to be on a Vitus (or an Alan) and for that matter looks identical to the one I'm parting out - and thus you appreciate what I'm trying to do with the look of all that polishing on the lugs, SS and CS.

OK so now I have purchased this seatpost which is the same diameter as the SR one it was intended to replace (25.0mm).
Funny thing is - it doesn't seem to fit. Didn't slide in easily, and with only moderate side to side pressure only 4cm has fitted in the frame and now it's stuck.
Anyone care to explain if I have bought the wrong thing or is it another case of "User error - Replace user" ...

perhaps not all 25.0's are created equal.
i'd measure the exposed section (duh) and see where it went wrong.
did you use lube? how stuck is it? can you fit a saddle and wrench it out of the frame without going beefcake on it?

Munga: thanks for the advice, will see where a saddle gets me. I have that SR laprade 25.0 x ~200 (need to measure) if that was something like what your mate wanted.
Saro: what length are the laprade alloy and the campag you're selling? (Just in case I get the current one out again...)
