now i have a dilemma... do i stick with the crank brothers, or go to some 50mm carbon disc rims on the CX now? (ignore the bars, it was purely a test to see how mtb levers went on bullhorn bars... and the lack of drivetrain)

Got myself a new bike on Boxing day and finally got around to taking a pic!

It's an ex-demo Venge Pro which was an absolute bargain, so I couldn't really say no!

Image

58cm frame, 7900 DA Running Gear, Ultegra Brakes
8.1kg as pictured, so it's not light, but it's stiff and fast!

Read quite a lot about the Venge being too stiff, but I've done multiple 150km+ rides as well as racing and hills and it's only been awesome so far! A big improvement on my old Cannondale SuperSix 105! :D

since I've photo-spammed the commuting and cyclocross pages with my new bike, I felt bad about not spamming this thread too.

New 2014 Merida Cyclocross 5. Will take better pics [close ups] shortly.

How did you go fitting the light on the tops?

Does that model also have the interruptor brakes?

the light was not too bad. Cygolite Metro 300 has a good mount where you undo a screw and can turn the slide-in portion 90, 180 or 270 degrees. I put the bracket over the gap in the bartape/head, spun it 180 and it was like it was made for it! It does have the interrupter brakes, which I was surprised as you can't see them in any pictures.

I can't fit my bell on there though, the bar is too thick. Have installed a 'shout' to warn traffic......

Nerdy question but what's holding it up? Has something been photoshopped out?

Unless people want to show off their valves has anyone ever suggested lining them up with the front forks/seat stay so they're out of sight?

I say valve stems at 12 is where it's at, so you can read the rim sticker at 6 the right way around. Except that modern rims have about eleventy thousand sets of stickers on them anyway, so it only works for some rims.

New wheels for Tabby. Velocity Razor ano grey 32H to Athena front 2x, Veloce rear 2x NDS/3x DS.

And a decidedly un-pro shot with full running setup:
