Well finally got my (1986 I think) Miyata 414 on the road. I did deviate a bit from the stock setup in that I now have sti levers. However, the rest is still as it came out of the bike shop with Shimano EX300 stuff on it. Got the wheels re built with stainless spokes. Quick polish and a coat of clear, the paint job is fairly smart for its age. New bearings all round and it rides sweet as.
If it doesnt rain tomorrow I will put 30 or 40 kilomoetres on it and let you know what its really like.

Got on the road for a ride today and did about 15 kilometres on it. The rear wheel had a bad habit of sliding in the dropouts so that when I put the power down the whole wheel skewed and started rubbing on the chain stay on the left hand chain stay.
Had to put enormous force onto the skewer to get it to stay true. However, once I achieved that I rode it hard and (listening for the skewer to let go) it rides beautifully. Its certainly not as light as my alu racer but if I was commuting or touring its certainly the equal to my same vintage Shogun tourer. Its not as twitchy as my sons upmarket Miyata we had many years ago. I love it. I think I'll keep it.
