I don't like it any more than you, but I think Nine will be just as rude to viewers as Seven, and putting the rest on Australia's rip-off monopoly pay TV network excludes many people. Foxtel's pricing is about as fair and balanced as Telstra's broadband pricing.
NBC in the US has a website where you can watch just about any event, and nobody is affected by download limits. In the UK, multiple digital TV channels are used to give viewers what they want to see. We have neither - everything is concentrated into single-channel television because our TV and our broadband are so weak.
Even our pay TV sucks. The US channel HBO has made and aired several drama series in the last few years that are considered among the best TV ever made (The Wire, Rome, Deadwood, Generation Kill, etc). The rest of the world has been raving about them. In Australia, the only way for many people to see those series is illegal downloads, import DVDs, or catch the occasional heavily edited, out-of-date episode played in the wrong order late at night on Nine.
Anyway, at least cycling is getting more coverage that I expected. Not enough, but it's on a lot.
