100% custom Euro road bikes

Postby justincase » Sun Jan 12, 2014 11:31 am

Hi all,
looking for some opinions from those of you that like the hi end Euro stuff. I know that there are heaps of us who like all sorts of different bikes. I love'm all and have almost one or 2 of all different disciplines. But when it comes to road bikes I love the Euro stuff and I know heaps of you like the Treks and Specialized etc.... thats cool too. I got a couple of them also. But I'm really passionate about the Italian stuff with some history. Love Colnago until they sold out 51% to Giant but don't get me wrong - Giant make great stuff but its a bit like Toyota owning Ferrari... Just my personal opinion though :P

So I'm ready to get my next bike and have been dealing with a factory directly in Italy. I've picked the frame and we are working on the paint design. Have really enjoyed the experience of coming up with my own paint job and components list down to fit kit and geo so much that I got it built in 3D so I could see the finished frame before I ordered it. Does anyone recon it might be a cool idea to be able to have your bike 100% custom built in 3D and come up with your own one-off paint job before you actually order it?

Here is what I think I'm going with from Daccordi, who are near Florence, Italy but I recon I might be able to get a few other Italian brands to do the same if I tried.

What do you think of the 3D idea and what do you recon of my old school/new school matte black and gloss graphics?

Got it all now in True 3D. Is incredible what can be done with software now. Check out this link (only works as True 3D if your on a computer though) you can flip, spin zoom... anything

Yeah, its a new concept so is in early development stages - no website yet. The web address on the images is incorrect as there is no "s" after bikes. http://www.OneOffEuroBikes.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is the url and will be live in testing phase in about 3 months when this bike is fully built so there will be progressive info with videos of the start to finish process right through to completed full bike, components and all.

Cheers

i'm confused, is this bike a personal item or a sly attempt at advertising?

This one is my personal bike but as I am in the software bus I'd like to develop it to the point that it could be a service or business people might want. But at this stage, this is all there is. Just curious if people like the idea as I've always wanted to be able to do something like this... its a passion of mine.

I was talking about the concept - but the bike is cool too.

A friend of mine is currently going through the motions ordering a Tommasini steelie but is umming and ahhing about paint. Something like this would be very handy.

Ahhhh Tommasini. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeet !!!!!! I'm going to try to hit them up next - beautiful bikes.

Tell your friend that if he likes I could do a digital True 3D of his frame for him - free no strings attached. All I ask is that he allows me to deal with them in the process of submitting his final design to them so that they can see what I can do. But other than that, all my involvement would be with only your friend. I don't want a cent from anyone even though it will cost me around $300

Seriously no strings and no $, no nothing even though it will cost me and I guarantee I will not try to get a cent from Tommassini for the work. I just want to show what I can do as Tommassini is my number 2 on the hit list after the current brand (Dacccordi).

Hand on hart - no catches :!:

Hi Justincase,

Don't know if you have ridden a Daccordi before but I've had 2 of them now, currently riding a Grinta and you won't go wrong. Beautiful bikes very well made. Good luck!

Thanks so much! Everyone on the forum has been really supportive on my post. I really didn't expect it. Am really really looking forward to getting it and Daccordi has been great to deal with. I'm taking my time with all the customisation as I'm really enjoying the process. I might post the final pics of when I get it on the forum. :D

I have just had a Tommasini X-Fire made for me. It was delivered a couple of weeks ago.

They somehow did not paint it with the scheme I requested and I have queried them about it but, as yet, not received a reply.

So sorry to hear that - I think its very dissapointing when your dream bike is not what you wished for. I love Tomassini from the bottom of my heart. I will most definitely approach them once I have go Daccordi properly implemented into my website.

Its a shame you didn't speak to me earlier I would loved to have done a True 3D design for you for free just for some feedback on what you thought of my service. The offer is still open if somehow you get Tomassini to agree to re-paint or replace.

Just for your info heres some links to 4 designs we have done:

Very best of luck. If I can help please don't hesitate to contact me.

What a shame. Close but far from close enough. Either way its a beautiful machine and congrats on choosing a steel frame and Campag groupset. I hope you can resolve your issues with it, I've been in a similar predicament and thats why I started this.

Are you dealing with the factory direct or was it through the AUST distributor in WA? (I think his name is Maurizio).

If I can help in anyway, you're welcome to email me at: info@oneoffeurobikes.com

James

I have been in touch with a frame painter here and he seems to think that the 'paint' is all actually decals. If this is the case I will get Tommasini to send me the replacement decals.

Shame about the Tommasini. I ordered a VLC2 a few years ago and the custom paintjob was absolutely spot on. The attention to detail in the finishing leaves everything else in the dust.
