Postby RRalphy » Tue Jan 14, 2014 4:33 pm

Hi,

Ordering in everything I need for my first road bike build and thought I would check if there was anything that I had overlooked. below is a list of what I have already/have ordered:

frameset inc fork, seatpost, headset and BB
shifters
FD
RD
brakes
seat
bars
stem
wheels inc tubes and tires
bar tape
chain
cables
bottle cage
cassette
cranks
pedals

Thanks

I assume the frame came with a seat post clamp? Likewise the groupset came with the bottom bracket cable guide (unless internal cabling). How about chainstay protection? Headset spacers?

The bottom bracket cable guide usually comes with the shifters. At least it has every time I have bought them. Still, having a spare won't hurt.

Still required for internal cabling, as the cables exit the frame at the BB in the vast majority of cases (some TT bikes are exceptions). However many internally-cabled frames have specific guides to suit.
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.

I refer to the traditional H-shaped bottom bracket cable guide for externally routed cables. Yes, the internally routed cable guides are frame specific. Like the one below.

Down tube cable guides and/or adjusters? Dependent on frame configuration.
