How do you know team sky riders don't like their Dogmas?biker jk wrote:It's called sponsorship. Team Sky use Pinarello Dogmas but the riders don't like the bikes. So whether a Pro Team uses a particular brand of equipment is not really a recommendation.

Perhaps they've done the research and found that they are not that inaccurate after all. And if they know if a particular rider has an imbalance they can adjust the reading for it.GAV!N wrote:Yes, but would a team as big as Sky sacrifice so much technology over some sponsorship?? Would they risk Froome or Porte not having somewhat accurate power when climbing in a Grand Tour?
Anyway, like lot of measurements the absolute number doesn't matter all that much. All that matters for the sports science boys is how today's number compares to yesterday and the day before, and Stages won't be significantly worse than a SRM at measuring that.

Just doubling the left leg power; enough studies have shown pedaling asymmetry exists and varies depending on exertion... i.e http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10460126" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;scirocco wrote:Anyway, like lot of measurements the absolute number doesn't matter all that much. They can send them my way if they don't like them! :p The only thing I know of is Wiggin's little dummy spit during the Giro, but I thought that was to do with the groupset???Homo Suburbiensis wrote:How do you know team sky riders don't like their Dogmas?biker jk wrote:It's called sponsorship. The complaints have revolved around the heavy frame versus competitors. Admittedly Pinarello have shaved some weight with the more recent model. My point was that equipment use by pro teams is governed mainly by sponsorship rather than quality.GAV!N wrote:They can send them my way if they don't like them! :p The only thing I know of is Wiggin's little dummy spit during the Giro, but I thought that was to do with the groupset???Homo Suburbiensis wrote:How do you know team sky riders don't like their Dogmas?biker jk wrote:It's called sponsorship. No, the frames were on the heavy side. Back in 2010, Sky met with Pinarello to get the weight down. This was when they weighed 1200g. Still, even the Dogma 2 came in well above the UCI weight limit of 6.8kg.g-boaf wrote:Surely those frames must be near the weight limit, or on the weight limit?
