The New Project!

Postby Cmm » Tue Jan 07, 2014 2:48 pm

Hi All

thought i would post my new project up on here. Its a 2012 Tcr Avanced sl Rabobank frameset that i am hoping to re-build to its former glory (funds will determine this greatly as it will be on a tight budget)

The build continues ultegra 6700 shifter and fd arrived Thursday from a BNA member! Same day I purchased a 7900 groupo off another BNA member which arrived today. So I think 1 build will turn into a build and an upgrade. Try and get the defy to a point were it would have come to start with (6700) just need wheels and handle bars for the rabo and it'll be ready to go!

Sl0 arrived today and unfortunately due to some differences in measuring different parts its not going to suit me. So the rabo will be given an upgrade from 7900 mechanical to...

On a side note the internal battery fits really well in the ISP with a little bit of foam wrapping!

Also can anyone help me with this. its where the di2 wires enter the frame. I am wondering what comes standard from giant when a bike has di2? they cant just leave them open like this. If anyone has the answer please let me know and if you could post a pic of the answer/solution it would be much appreciated!

Everything is fitted to the Rabo except for the bb and the crank then it will be time for a test ride :) the Sl0 still requires handlebars (should be here moro) bb crank and bolts for the battery mount. hopefully will be able to test ride both on the weekend although actual crank for the sl0 arrives monday :)

Well, I am unable to sell the TCR Advanced SL1 frameset. I have ordered the Ultegra 6800 groupset from bikebug for $820 delivered, i'll be ordering the Stages crankarm next pay.

I guess I will have a winter bike after all.

Lovely bikes btw.

I noticed the professional teams that have used Giant bikes, Belkin and now Argos-Shimano, mostly use PRO stems. Does anyone know when/if PRO will likely make these available to the consumer?

They have been using them for a while but still no sign of them being released to the general public which is unfortunate!

What year sl1?

so the project was going swimmingly everything was set up ready for the maiden voyage then Propel happened....

Image

so before the tcr even got a ride the groupset was stripped and sold to help fund the propel!

The TCR lives on for the moment as a frameset still deciding weather to sell it or keep it and build it up again!

But in the mean time the propel is simply amazing! coming off a defy advanced with 9 speed tiagra has been a massive eye opener!
