Handle bar bags and Sti levers

Hi all,
Has anyone any advice on problems using a handle bar bag with sti levers.
Probably going down the Vivente World Randoneer track and wanting to make an informed decision on which
configuration,

If you're worried about your Shimano STi cables conflicting with the handlebar bag, try this solution (use V-brake noodles)

Or just use sram. Or campy. Or 105 and above shimano levers made in the last few years.

It's not much of a problem. The VWR is an excellent choice, and there is the option of having it with trekking bars. I don't have a problem mounting a medium Ortlieb Utlimate 5 using a Rixen Kaul mount with an extender.

I tried using v-brake noodles, but they didn't improve the shifting at all, or the clearance much.

So I just lengthened the cables a little and routed them through the RK mount. And installed the barrel adjusters.

I use sram red and shimano 9000 so no cables flapping around. Pretty hard to find a new bike these days over 1500$ with cables sticking out.

i toured around with a carradice camper as a handlebar bag with campy levers, i didnt really have any problems with shifting unless i put too much stuff in the side pockets.

As the others have said your only real choice is an upgrade to 10 speed Shimano, SRAM or any Campagnolo drivetrain. It's sounds expensive to me. I think the easiest option is to convert to standard brake levers and bar end shifters. You certainly don't need STi shifting on tour.
