Getting rid of freckles?

Any thoughts on the best way to get rid of these sort of freckles?

i'll assume you've tried polishing them out already, and suggest spraying/wiping with rust convertor and then applying some decent polish.

My arm is actually very brown, I've actually used the flash to make it quite dramatic... I have parents who are indigenous, and Irish, hence the above outcome! No sandblaster will fix it!... Anyway sorry for getting the OP off topic..

Having a sense of humour is never off topic.

If it was me I'd soak the offending frame part in a large bucket of vinegar and see what effect that has, then maybe sand the paint back, maybe repaint it or try one of the harsher surface cutting compounds from Maguires etc. The reality is that the sub surface is corrupted i.e paint doesn't rust but metal does. Time for a respray I'd reckon.

One technique that I've used a couple times with moderate success - soak a rag or sponge in oxalic acid, use cling wrap to hold the soaked cloth to the frame, leave in contact for an hour or so (depending on strength of acid mix), remove, give it a wee polish, then cover with auto wax.

that's the problem, those are rust spots from the steel, whatever you do is only going to prolong the inevitable

Hopefully the inevitable won't be for another 20 years.

Any form of rust, scratches, damage can all be removed in one easy application, just leave the bike out side for council cleanup and in no time at all any unsightly marks or blemishes will vanish in an instant and it wont cost a cent.

I find wd40 and a LIGHT scourer can sometimes help
