I'll dewax a section and give the converter a go.munga wrote:i'll assume you've tried polishing them out already, and suggest spraying/wiping with rust convertor and then applying some decent polish.

That's very impressive. I assume you are pretty keen on sunscreen.Dr_Mutley wrote:I tried the sandblaster without success....

If it was me I'd soak the offending frame part in a large bucket of vinegar and see what effect that has, then maybe sand the paint back, maybe repaint it or try one of the harsher surface cutting compounds from Maguires etc. The reality is that the sub surface is corrupted i.e paint doesn't rust but metal does. Time for a respray I'd reckon.

that's the problem, those are rust spots from the steel, whatever you do is only going to prolong the inevitablemunga wrote:obviously the topcoat is worn or too thin, so whatever you do is a stopgap measure. needs more paint!

Hopefully the inevitable won't be for another 20 years.scratchman wrote:that's the problem, those are rust spots from the steel, whatever you do is only going to prolong the inevitablemunga wrote:obviously the topcoat is worn or too thin, so whatever you do is a stopgap measure. needs more paint!
