Delirium 24 Hour

Postby MDL » Mon Jan 06, 2014 10:45 pm

Just wondering if anyone has done the Delirium 24 Hour in WA in the past. Going to give it a crack in Toowoomba QLD.

Just want to see what people have done it and grab some advice please.

Thanks
Matthew

I haven't done one before but I will definitely be at Toowoomba! The longest ride I've done so far was 315k in 14.5hrs, so with any luck i'm hoping to be over 500kms for the 24.

Other than doing plenty of long rides, my big tip would be to get some aerobars, they are worth their weight in gold for long rides.

Are they legal for these type of rides? I believe they are banned in PBP.

Don't think they are aloud in this event.

Oh.

Normal rules of road racing apply, including the ability to draft
no TT bikes, bars or disc wheels
Considerably less enthusiastic now, i'm not really a bunch rider and aerobars are invaluable on long rides for the upper body support. Still at least there's plenty of time for me to get used to the idea.

Mark Fenner has some well regarded training plans for 24 solo mountain bike racing that might be adaptable. They were published in Enduro magazine issues 8 9 and 10 and a google search should turn them up.

If not, PM me and I can point you in the right direction.

Riding the track weekly. I don't know how 24 hours is going to go. We have our c/d grades in a 39/28 on one corner and that's in a 30 min race.

Doing it this weekend in Cowaramup WA. Should be good apart from the 80% chance of rain (50mm ish) and potential thunderstorm. LOL
