Club jersey 'rules'

Postby squeakywheel » Tue Feb 25, 2014 4:50 pm

Over a year ago, I got all keen and joined a local cycling club. I bought a jersey branded with their name and logo and went on a couple of rides with them. I then dropped off and haven't ridden with them in many months. I dont think club riding is for me and prefer to ride alone mostly and not to a schedule.

The jersey I bought is now sitting idle in a drawer. It's good quality and cost about a 100 bucks, so I was wondering if it would be heinously wrong to wear it to ride by myself? I'm still actually a paid up member even if I dont go on rides, and I wouldnt do anything to bring the club into disrepute (apart from being slow!)

Is there some kind of etiquette to this? Thanks

Don't see any issues. You own the kit. It's yours to do with as you please.

Just make sure you run red lights wearing competitor's jerseys.

The three rules are:

1) Don't wear the Tour de France yellow, unless you have actually won it
2) Don't wear World Championship colours/stripes unless you have won it
3) You can wear what you want (even the yellow or world champs) if you don't care what others think.

You forgot

4) Don't wear a polka dot jersey if, like me, are overweight and can't climb out of sight on a dark night. Everyone will go past you and laugh on the hills
