Hey! My daughter just delivered the bike she bought me. I will post pictures soon!!
It is in the most fanstastic original condition. Premier 'aero' with adamas and steel aero rims...never seen those before :)

Ooh nice, i'm keen to get a better look. I remember years ago I found a Huffy "Aerowind" on a scrap metal pile and left it there thinking it was junk (a reasonable conclusion for a Huffy). Found out a couple of years later they are actually pretty decent and quite rare  .

Great minds think alike btw, I was just about to give this thread a tickle :) .

Shall refrain from making any barbed comments. Might that be Mt Kin Kin.. or something? :|
Well, no, it's not a pushbike, otherwise I'd be pushing it...

Mt Cooroora near Pomona, the next town south. Unfortunately there is no Mt Kin Kin.

A quick snap after a scintillating talk by me on the bike boom (1890s) and a recitation of Mulga Bill's Bicycle at a church Easter morning tea :)
Duncan's restoration of this 1911 renault makes any bicycle restoration seem quite unremarkable

Not sure of much about the bike except ownership back to about 1920. It had three speed SA back pedal brake rear wheel fitted probably in the fifties but I lost that on one of my moves. It has BSA 5/32 7inch cranks but that was pretty standard. I tried carefully removing old paint but all I found was rust. The family in which it lived had the lease of North Keppell Island for many years but that's going back a way. I doubt there was anywhere to ride there so it probably lived around Yeppoon and Rocky.

The renault was a mail car out of the railhead at Ilfracombe from early in the last century. The parts remaining were spread out over a property near Longreach and it had been cut up to use the motor on a welder which is where it still was when Duncan started on it. His wife saw the bonnet being used as a doghouse and thought she should mention it to Duncan. Mr. Renault is an interesting story too.

How did this get in my record collection? Must've picked it up with some old show tune records at a market!

I do remember buying this though. Quite nice jazz flute if I can remember back to 1978. Back when I'd go to the music store every week after payday and buy a record. This one was almost just for the cover : )

Well I didn't know where to post so I thought here would be good ! I will post pictures soon !

I just had a fantastic holiday in late Autumn and thought of this forum so many times. Whether it was looking around Jeff's place in Oregon (he used to run Third Hand/Loose Screws) or sitting in a London cafe watching Bromptons go past with an occassional Dawes and Bickerton, or anywhere in Italy. It was awesome except for the flight home and delightful jetlagged 5 hour stopover in Hong Kong.
BTW last I heard Jeff (who retired this year) at Loose Screws had unexpectedly sold the website and leftover stock to a guy who plans to start the business up again.

You might guess what they manufacture here... not retro but cool...as was a tour of the factory

Relating to above I should add that it was the northern hemishere Autumn. I went for an early morning walk in central Bologna wearing the shorts pictured in the previous post and a daggy shirt and everyone looked at me real strange. They had all decided it was cold and had stylish Italian overcoats on. Even the beggars didn't beg from me but just said ciao ! :)

Owen,

How many bikes did you buy while you were away?

Sounds like you had a great trip.

Cheers

I resisted buying bikes and only got one ride in 6 weeks with Jeff in Oregon. It was down 10miles and back up again 10 miles. Luckily, pretty scenery to take my mind off the pain. We even saw about 30 wild turkeys on the side of the road. I did buy some nice Campag kit in Carpi, a town near Modena, and I needed a new left Veloce ergo lever which they pulled off the shelf no worries. Just loved the piazzas. I talked for quite a while to this guy in an animated conversation with neither of us knowing what the hell the other was saying. I think he thought I insulted his bike.
