I was reasonably pleased with February, & am aiming for 750km for March.
665 km (1,336 km YTD) maintaining around 150km per week
8,804m climbing
If I can maintain this I would be on track for 8,000km. Maybe its time to up my km goal as well as trying to pick up the pace.

I'm at 2,879.7 km according to Strava at the moment. My averages per week are dropping to around 250km. Last week was 278.9km. So I'm going okay.

February saw several factors come together to see the end of my 27 month streak of climbing 6000m and the slackest month on the bike since I got the Garmin and started recording things back in March 2010. While a temporary position change at work, illness and some extreme work hours for my wife all played their part I think the biggest factor was having no riding goals set. The only goal I'd set for the year was the ACE250 on January 26th and I'd decided that after that I was going to have a bit of a break before choosing what to focus on next. I chose was a 300km Audax ride mid month but then I got sick and wasn't well enough to contemplate the 300 and from there never really regained focus for the rest of the month. Still haven't worked out some new goals but I've been asked to join a team for Tough Mudder mid this year which will likely see cycling take a smaller focus in my fitness as I prepare for that. In the end my February total was 300.9km and 2581m of climbing.
And so March begins, while a new bike to spike my interest is out of the question, my Edge 510 arrived today which meant I had to get out for a test ride. Looks like the slack month didn't hurt me too much as I managed a few PRs along the way. Thinking setting some segment goals might just be the thing to get things back on track.

I've been taking advantage of the nice Autumn riding conditions down here - hopefully the weather will remain steady for a few weeks yet.
Keep up the good work all.
cheers

Various things have reduced the km per week. I fear I'm getting a cold as well. Been fighting it away for a week already, can still feel it threatening.

Thanks mate. Yep, wasn't feeling crash hot this morning - nose had been running like a tap for a day and a bit - but had to go out and race one of my favourite local circuits. Whilst I did have fun, I certainly felt quite a bit less than optimal, so will take it easy the next couple of days to ensure that I kick it without it becoming worse.
cheers

I'm catching you, 4km short! Today was 132.6km - an aborted Gran Fondo 3 effort. I could have gone the extra, but I was tired.macca33 wrote:g-boaf wrote:Well done Macca - I have also gone over 3000km.

Good work mate - I had a day off today and feel a little better although the throat is still a bit dry and nasty tasting. I was probably due a rest anyway.
Had a great morning with my 10yo doing her first WeetBix Try-athlon in StKilda - she had a ball.
cheers

I followed up 132.5km yesterday with 105.5km today. http://app.strava.com/activities/119376005" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I was going to take a short cut and get home earlier - but a certain cyclist who was riding with a prosthetic leg inspired me to go the rest of the distance. As I was catching him, he decided to put the hammer down in quite an impressive manner. He was going very well. He absolutely wasn't holding me up.
If you are reading this mate - thanks for the company along the way back. That was good going.
Yeah, that's the way to get rid of those things.macca33 wrote:Good work mate - I had a day off today and feel a little better although the throat is still a bit dry and nasty tasting. I was probably due a rest anyway.

I added another 106.7km last night - with the threat of calf muscle cramping. Threat was all it was, but it was not pleasant. About 15km from home I stopped and properly massaged out all the knots in the muscle that I could feel - much better after that.
Strava says I'm at 3,522.8 km for the year and 318.7km for this week after three rides.
