I would suggest an auction sniper program.jools wrote:I had an eBay fail day yesterday - put a low bid on the National a few days ago and was outbid some time later. It was sitting at $21.50 and I was planning to put in another bid right at the end but I got distracted and when I got back to the computer it had ended, still on $21.50.ldrcycles wrote:Basic old National Sport 1000, with possibly interesting bars and an amusing description .

I was half tempted to bid on a Legnano which finished at $132.50 but really wanted to have a crack at the Apollo VI, which went over my budget and finished at $265

Apparently it's a Speedwell Popular (but kneel before Bna retro before bidding)
...
Bike would suit a strong rider as it is heavy , zoom in on the chain gauge. (Made for swagmen, not muppet limb'd old hoarders or Brissy hipsters.

I've got a Mitchell very similar to this one. The Mitchell referes to Mitchell St in Enmore, and the bikes are stickered as built by the Royal Blind Society. My one is pretty nice, solid light ulgged frame with good components. Nothing much left though - all the features he mentions diminish its Vertex-ness - forks gone, dropouts changed and powdercoated.cray- wrote:I'm sure this Vertex is in the Repco thread somewhere:

Hehe my draft of that post included something along the lines of "Shame it's missing everything that would make it desirable & worthy of the price tag" but didn't want to offend. Now that you've pointed it out anyway...wqlava1 wrote:Nothing much left though - all the features he mentions diminish its Vertex-ness - forks gone, dropouts changed and powdercoated.

Stick a nice stem on it and some new bar tape and that is one slinky ride.

Interesting sales pitch, good luck with that one buddy.Tens of thousands were sold, but very few are still in rideable condition. This is easily the best example in Australia (and therefore, the world).

Yea. $400 to restore and that didn't stretch to any kind of bar tape? . And I might be wrong but that FD doesn't look like the right one to me..morini wrote:Here's a laugh. A Repco Traveller, "fastidiously restored" and cheap too, now half price at $499.
