2014 Cyclocross Pre Season Camp in Wollongong on the 22nd March.
Presented by American Cyclocross Rider Pat Lemieux and Donkey Label Clothing.
WHERE: Wollongong -NSW Australia. - Stuart Park North Wollongong.
ORGANISER: Danny Hennessy- Level 1 Cycling Coach. 2013 NSW State Masters CX champion- 2nd 2013 Australian Championships
When : Saturday 22 MARCH
COST : $50 per rider for 1 day.
LIMIT: 16 RIDERS
Pat Lemieux is a former Road professional Rider for Texas Steakhouse team in the USA.
Amongst that he has been Minnesota State Cyclocross champion a few times and recently finished 2nd in the Minnesota State championships for 2013.
Pat is the partner of Gwen Jorgansen who is the top 3 ranked female Triathletes in the world.
Pat is based here in the Illawarra region for 3 months every year and is offering a unique opportunity for NSW based Cyclocross riders to participate in a training camp and learn skills and techniques to improve their Cross training and racing.
Course Itinerary:
Assemble North Wollongong Surf Club- Diggies Cafe North Wollongong Beach. 8am.
Session 1
Introduction by Pat and outline Weekend Schedule. 1.5 Hours
Includes: Bike Set up, Clothing, Shoes/pedals,
Skills- Mounting, Dismounting, barriers, Tight corners, Slippery surfaces, Sand sections, Stair run ups, Steep power climbs. What to do in the PITS.
Morning Tea: 30 mins
Session 2
GROUP RIDE
Heading north/south through Stuart Park. Corrimal Park. 1.5 Hours
Skills-Cornering, Following the wheel, Barriers, Sand riding ( Lagoon).
Stairs running at Flagstaff Hill, Hill running and dismounting.
LUNCH 12pm to 1pm
Lunch Not supplied. Cafes and takeaway shops located at North Wollongong, Woolworths Supermarket 2km from Venue.
Session 3
GROUP RIDE
1pm Assemble at Diggies/ North Wollongong Surf club area.
Group Ride heading south towards Coniston Energy park, West towards Figtree, Keiraville area, Fairy Meadow- North Wollongong. Duration approx 2 Hours.
Afternoon Tea: 1 hour break
Session 4
4pm - Stuart park North Wollongong
Race start practices- 4 Mock starts.
Includes a 10 min CX short course Hit out. ( 500m laps)
Estimated Finish- 5pm.
The Cyclocross Camp is designed to get interested riders ready for the 2014 CX season and learn from an experienced Rider who regularly competes in Cold -Ice and Snow conditions.
Any interested Cyclocross riders are encouraged to attend of any level.
Must have a current 2014 Gold or Silver Cycling Australia License. Or a member of MTBA 2014
Cost is $50 for one day.

A similar camp may possibly be held in Melbourne next month if there are enough interested riders ...

Marty, if you're at the National Track champs, Danny is there. Seek him out, say gidday and mention the word "Cross" and watch the excitement reach fever pitch.
There seems to be lots of interest down your way so I'll keep you posted if it goes ahead.

Will try and speak with Danny tomorrow. If you want to race CX you need one anyway...
I'd love to do this but have no CX bike. Better get searching so I can build one up.
