No power from 9 PM to 5 AM. Sat here and listended to the sound of exploding transformers as the power grid melted down for the 4th successive day.moosterbounce wrote:I'm going to bed...airconditioned bedroom...

For those people in Perth, the end of Connolly Drive in Butler is becoming known as Time Trail Hill (Standing Sprint to the top and slow descent x 5, followed later by the slog that is Neerabup Road (800m+ length) climb that connects you back to Marmion Avenue. And if you survive that you then have to cross Marmion Avenue rush hour traffic to get back to Mindarie!
Cheers,
Gary

Gary - I don't really like the sounds of your TT Hill regardless of the weather (but I reckon I'll give it a go soon cos I'm a sucker )!! Today we did 5 laps of my circuit - hit the road along the beach at the end of Shenton Ave and head south to Hodges Drive, round the roundabout and back down (north) until you hit the end of the road. Then turn around and do it all again!! It is a bit of a hill heading south, but you get a great run (55kmh easy) heading north. It is just over a 5km loop and the road has only recently been laid so is smooooooooooth!!
Anyway, rain expected sometime next week as a result of the 2 cyclones up north which will be nice.

Rain, rain and more of it.
Can't just dump it and clear either.
Drizzle stop, drizzle stop. Rinse and repeat.

Cheers mate. I still avoid the rain where possible and have just picked and chosen when and where I ride largely according to the weather.find_bruce wrote: ↑Sat Sep 17, 2022 10:50 amMakes the distances you have been riding even more impressive warty
If money was no object I'd have 2 smart trainers. One at home and one at the on-call accommodation.
I'd certainly be on it today.

August weather up here (Qld/NSW borders) was nice - (in comparison with what the rest of the year has been like, wet, floods and mouldy)
Nice as in afternoon temps in the low 20’s.
Admittedly some of the mornings were damn cold!
Now it’s mid September and the weather has suddenly become hot. Murwillumbah was 28 yesterday and Brisbane got up to 30.
The sun is oppressive after 10am. The old saying springs to mind - Only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun.
But what really worries people up here now is if we will get flood rains again this summer.
The physical and emotional scars from the February/March floods are not healed yet.

I'll take the heat over the cold. We are we going north next year for a month in the depths.
To at least break it up.
Winter sux here.

Those are just bad photos, deliberately underexposed. These folk surely must know how to use ISO, aperture and shutter speed...

Rochester.
Had a big one in 2011.
This one hopefully won't be as bad.
Parts of NSW appear to be copping it even worse.
"A land of droughts and flooding rain"
We are in the rain part.

I am home now. Not looking good for Rochy though. It is looking to be as bad as 2011.
Evacuations are taking place as that article says.

I hope Albury/Wodonga does well.
Yes, it would be good if no more lives are lost.
There is going to be alot of property loss which will hurt many.
Let's hope it just clears off.

Looks to affect many on the Northwest side of the City.
To our Melbourne and Victorian members, please be careful.
I truly feel for the people of Rochester and Seymour and surrounds, it's not looking great

Went for a quick ride at lunch from Richmond along the Yarra River to Federation Square and while there's a lot of water flowing quite quickly, all of the river paths were dry. Apparently it was worse this morning as one of my colleagues couldn't cycle in due to flooded section of path.

The Yarra peaked in inner city Melbourne just before midnight last night. Abbottsford tracks were heavily flooded, some areas under 2m of water. As were many upstream at least as far as Heidelberg. Dights falls no longer had a deadly weir and Kayakers were loving it doing laps of the rapids.P!N20 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 14, 2022 2:02 pmWent for a quick ride at lunch from Richmond along the Yarra River to Federation Square and while there's a lot of water flowing quite quickly, all of the river paths were dry.
