Went for a 45km ride (commute to work), pit stopped with a puncture. Changed to white bar tape. Not a bad look! Fitted the new QuadLock mount, just waiting on new Topeak sensors. Ayup battery still fits on the underside of the stem, which I didn't expect. Next is to find somewhere to mount the VIRB on its way...

I rode to work, not unusual, but today i towed the BoB trailer with recently repaired 1959 Swansea frame onboard. In the next few days when I get a minute or three spare I'll tow it to the chromers to get the rear end chromed. Drove home 'cause I need the car there and after dinner rode to band practice and back. It's warm out tonight :?

Washed my bike, pulled the cassette off and cleaned it thoroughly, swapped the chain over.

I have collected a few bits and pieces over the last few months to make a road bike for commuting on the days i don't have a ton of stuff to move on my hybrid. Today I stripped an old Paconi frame and forks of all its paint.

Being a relatively no frills kind of guy I am painting it matt black. I am toying with the idea of a white saddle and cables to bling it up a bit though.

Not today, but over the weekend... Had some Reynolds Assault clinchers fitted.
Got em for a pretty good price. They ride pretty well and the bike looks great with them on!

Checked tyre pressures on the commuter after I got home from work at 0730ish.
Gonna take the FG out for a head clearer soon...

Several things today; went to a shop to get a tester Selle SMP for my wife's bike.

Installed some cleat adaptors on her shoes (SPD cleats on road shoes)

Replaced the rear pads on my road bike.

Then a long night rebuilding the commuter, let's see:
Built up the new front wheel (rim tape, transferred tyre and tube and disc rotor)
Removed and replaced bottom bracket (learned how to pull cranks and BB in the process)
Degreased and cleaned the chain (Morgan Blue Bio Oil is absolutely the worst stuff in the universe, it takes about 2 weeks to turn from oil into solid gum)
Removed and replaced the damaged forks with new ones. Managed to salvage the headset which saved me installing a new one
Reinstalled mudguards and rack.
Test ride - god I'd forgotten how good the brakes on it are compared to my road bike.

Interesting - have been trying to track down a place in Melbourne that has test SMPs... admittedly not trying very hard

I had a busy weekend getting set for winter - went from one to all five bikes ready to ride.

Swapped tyres between the commuter and SS so that I could install mudguards on the former (the 27mm Schwalbes fouled the rear guard), and finally installed cranks and pedals on the SS project. Also fitted new carbon 3T Ergonova bars on the roadie, got the ghetto tubeless setup working on the hardtail MTB and tightened up its loose wheel bearings. Picked up the dually from the shop yesterday - so for now the whole stable is ready for me to take my pick every day :D

SMP loaner is from Port Melbourne Cycles, but you'll probably have to book as they are in hot demand. Currently have a Dynamic, and have a Lite209 booked for next week.

Turning Point Cycles in Mordialloc is the other I am aware of with SMP loaners.

Though I only found both due to their ads on BikeExchange. I enquired to the distributor for other SMP retailers but no response from them...

Awesome, thanks! Yeah, seems like it's hard to find anyone with stock at the moment... I've asked a couple of shops that stock them whether they can organise trials, but haven't actually had anyone follow up - starting to feel a bit

My wife is taking the Dynamic back today or tomorrow and loaning the Lite 209.

I have previously changed one of my bikes from V-brakes to discs, necessitating an upgrade of wheels & shifters. Sunday I swapped out the bottom bracket, chainring, chain & cassette. About the only original components are the frame, bars & seat. In sad news I think SWMBO has figured out my n+1 plans.

In a quick change of tactics, I picked up a nice Apollo mixte for her to ride. Just need some 700c wheels & long reach brakes & we are good to go.

My commuter is also a grandpa's axe - the only original parts are the frame, rear wheel, seatpost, crank arms and headset spacers... but it's the same bike.

Fitted my new Stages power meter yesterday and found the front derailleur was seized. So today I went down to the LBS and picked one up. Very expensive. The derailleur itself was only $60 but the $220 donation to the Annual Policemans Ball hurts a bit  .

I gave the Giant a clean up after a week that doubled the amount of kilometres it had done. :D

I'm with you MattyK, if n is a constant, it's the same bike.

I was very pleased with the changes, about a 20mm decrease in Q factor, super smooth & felt really fast. It wasn't & I remain as slow as ever, but it felt good & brought a smile to my dial.

woke up nice and early, got dressed, went to my bike, picked up my helmet, picked up my car keys which were under it and hopped in the car with a tear in my eye..

Apart from that I just bought some new spokes to replace some silver ones i used in a time of desparation

If i didnt work 60km from home i would ride every day :(
