Looks good and thanks for the recommendation. I like the twin 1/2 watt design. Twice the energy. Found an eBay option at a good price.

What's the mounting like? Does it have a reliable clip for belts and saddle bag?
Sorry for the delayed reply...
Yep mounting is good... Supplied mounts are sturdy... I don't use the mount as I have a modded mount on my aero seat tube...
Clip is good as well, as I also use one clipped onto the rocloc of my ionos helmet... Doesn't move at all... Super effective lights... My radbots are now banished to my top drawer :-)

For anyone that uses the cygolight hotshot - can i just ask a question - if i am looking to put it on a rear stay - rather than the seat tube, does the mount/band come in short enough - ie is it a fixed mount about an inch wide, or can it be adjusted to a smaller diameter? ie or can i use an existing mount of another light an swap it over. was hoping to put it on the stay and/or backpack as i have bugger all room below my seat.

thanks in advance

it only comes with a mount for a seatpost and rear rack. The clip is smaller than the standard one used on superflashes and others but if you have a standard seat stay mount from a superflash you should be able to swap things around.

I have an aero seat post and combined the cygolight bracket with a Giant seat post reflector clamp
the GF clips hers into a Topeak bag. maybe you could do something with your existing stay mount?

that's a good video fingy - shows how clear it is in daylight.

I was considering using it on my backpack - and just use a twist tie thingy (like a tomato tier-upperer) to hold it on just in case it bounces off.

I know this thread hasn't seen much activity lately.

What is a reasonably priced extremely bright rechargeable rear light currently.

What is reasonably priced in your world? $5.00? $50.00? Something else?

I have a Cygolite Hotshot which has been excellent. Around $30-$35. USB rechargeable. Very bright. You can also change the brightness if desired. I get well over 40 hours use before needing to recharge.

I know rechargeable tail lights seem to be the rage, very happy with my Blackburn Mars 1.1. Three LED's and a largeish lense which gives good sidelight.
The two AAA's are still running after a couple of months of steady use.

Paid $19.95 which I thought was reasonable.

After trying lots of different brands that all seem to break after 6 months, I have ended up with Cygolites front and back on both bikes.

No love for the Knog blinders?

I have a set and they're amazing, different light patterns, USB charge, small, easy attachment, attractive, waterproof, different styles and colours, and under $50.
If you've got a $10 head, get a $10 helmet

Love the knogs. All three I have had have broken their silicon strap within 6 months, rendering them useless.

apparently knog are pretty good with replacements, next time, if you do buy one if that happens that early, send it back.

The Supernova Airstream tail light looks pretty small and pretty bright... a tad on the expensive side if you don't already have the main unit though

+1

The Niterider Solas is also worth a look. It has more side visibility than the hotshot. I use one of each for the commute with the hotshot (dimmed and angled down just a tad) on steady and solas on the first flashing setting.

+1 cygolite hotshot 2W rear. USB is a big plus for me.

+1 cygolite Metro 300. Has a few modes but my favourite is a 'flashing' steady light for added dusk/dawn/night vision that plain steady lights don't have. USB again.

I've had a Moon Gem 3.0 for a while now, it's nothing on things like the Hotshot (going off videos) but it lights up the whole back end of my bike and only cost about $30 from the LBS. I recharge it after every 2nd or 3rd ride and haven't run out of juice yet. The headlight I got with it (a Moon Xpower 500) is also fantastic.

Less than $30 (plus labour) and you will stop before the light does

I bought mine when the currency was stronger. The best deal now is closer to $35.

Just got one from Pushys for $35 not including the delivery charge of $12(!)...but I found a $10 discount code.

BTW, has anyone got any good tips/ hints on how to connect this to an aero seat post?
