Shoes For Clydesdales

Postby dynamictiger » Sat Mar 22, 2014 7:12 pm

I thought this would be simple...how wrong I am yet again.

My feet are size 45 4E correctly fitted. I often wear 46.

I started to increase my commuting to work in my Northwave shoes and found I was developing hot foot after only a few tens of kilometres. After reading up I decided I must be doing my shoes up too tight and have backed them off as a temporary fix, but thought as they are a few years old now and not quite right I would get some new shoes...Now the fun really begins.

My LBS ordered me in some Sidi Megas, however they ordered 46 not 45 as discussed. However against logic the 46 Mega felt tight etc. Waiting to try the right size in case it is something to do with buckle and strap positions etc. At my wife's suggestion we went to a couple of other stores and tried on Shimano wides...They felt like my foot was being placed in a vice they were so narrow. I thought the custom fit scheme from Shimano may help, but this store had those too and said no, wont fix the width problem. We tried some Mavics and they were similar, and the other store just didn't even try to offer anything.

Currently the best idea I have is to go out in the shed and attack the side of my foot with the grinder and hammer the top bit till flat so will fit something...But the wife tells me I cant. So right now I am looking for a shoe or suggestion of a shoe to go and look at or try on that might actually have the width.

I've got Sidi mega's as well
I'm sized 46 and I ordered 47 from probikekit. No complaints for me. My feet have changed over the past few years and I think they have gotten wider from 2E to possibly 4E now. Need a new measurement to confirm.
My previous shoes were sized 46. Seems to me need to upsize on sidi's. I got the specialised insole for it and 47/48 was too large and 45/46 was a perfect fit.

Edit
I'm actually planning on getting some new MTB shoes as well. My Northwaves that fit me previously now feel tight. So I'd be getting Sidi Dominator Mega's from xxcycle I was tempted last week to buy them, but I am definitely buying them now after doig more distance today in my Northwaves and they felt tight again.

Thanks for the offer. Not quite what I was asking. The 47's are probably too long for me.

The Sidi Mega is one option. I am sure there are other shoes that come in a 'mega' fit, and Shimano do make a wider fit - just too narrow for me. What other brands do a wide fit shoe?

Asics 10.5 US (which is an EU 44.5) in a 4E fitting = Sidi 5 Mega fit in an EU 44.5

My friend is this size and claims exact fitting for these two pairs of shoes.

Sidi Mega in the new 5 range are truly wide.

Well I suggest to try my shoes to see if they will fit. Sidi is smaller than other shoes length.

Also did you try the sidi ruler?
Measure your foot length, if it's 28.5. 47 sidis will work for you.
