Managed to roll past 2000km with an enjoyable bunch ride in perfect conditions this morning. Happy with that

I've done 535km this week, finishing it off with this easy going ride:
http://app.strava.com/activities/120999745" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It was going to be 107km, but punctures put an end to that. 79.1km is still good though.
Strava reckons I've done 3,739.2 km, and the Giant TCR Advanced SL1 has clocked up 1,167.9 km in the short time I've had it.

Passed 4k this morning and despite the galeforce wind, it was a fairly pleasant warm, DRY morning, so cannot complain too loudly.
Keep up the good work all.
cheers

I've hit 4,360.5 km for the year according to Strava, and 1455km for this month. I had a some back-to-back 500km weeks to help with that.
I've also gone over 30,000m for elevation year to date as well.

Was doing well this year and caught up with the distance i should have been last week. Alas, got doored doing about 35kmh yesterday on the commute home. Ended up in the middle of the road. Broken collarbone and damage to the a/c joint. Front wheel in pieces, haven't been able to assess the rest of the bike yet.
Looks like I'll be falling behind now, at least for this week...

Bugger! Did you get it on camera? Did the other person give you their details? That's serious.jgon286 wrote:Hi all,

Hope you recover okay and the pain is manageable.
I'm very wary of car doors and deliberately ride out in the next lane to avoid that risk as much as I can. A lot of my riding seems to pass two railway stations at peak times, bad risk for dooring and people rushing out without looking.
Thanks Grant! I'm enjoying doing those kilometres. It's good training.grantw wrote:Impressive effort g-boaf, you and Macca are really pusshing out the kays!

If there ever was a 'good' crash, this might be it. Driver was polite and concerned enough, resident got out a chair for me to sit once I'd scraped myself off the road, car behind me was far enough back to see the whole thing and stopped to be a witness. Police just happened to drive past, not on a job, and decided to turn around and get statements. Was able to ride in front seat of quick response ambo rather than wait for the big van. Bike's at the resident's garage waiting to be picked up.g-boaf wrote:

Very lucky, thankful it wasn't worse. Thanks for your concern. Like I said on page 1 of this thread... Safe riding out there everyone!
Edit: I'm always in two minds when cars are parked. I keep a metre from them more or less, but I don't want to be way out that a driver not concentrating clips from behind or, worse, mows me down altogether. I know many here would say, claim the lane, but I also want to be a courteous rider and not hold up traffic. I only ride by myself, so I don't have anyone alongside usually who would justify using the whole lane.

Drivers do understand and the more people who do this, the better they'll be educated and consider it normal behaviour.
It's good that you had immediate help.

Good going. It's pretty miserable weather here in Sydney as well so proper bike riding is limited. I did get in a trainer session this morning in Athlete Lab for about 45min and last night I did some squats and jump squats for the first time in ages, so I'm feeling some soreness in my legs. I want to go out for a proper bike ride tonight if there is a break in the weather. I'd like 80-100km, but would settle for 40.TonyMax wrote:20 minutes on the trainer (2 x 10min) 15 days after hernia surgery today, raining outside so no temptation to get on the bike. Time recorded in Strava with 0 distance for tracking purposes.
When I don't ride I get agitated.

Hmm, good luck with that. Sydney had a miserable wet week. It did do 82km today but I was bored like hell and took the short way home. I'm up to 4503km for this year. So if I can pull off a few more 500km weeks, I'll have my 6000km for the year.
Well done on getting through 1000km.
