DERAILLEURS!!!!!! I NEED HELP PLZ!!!!

OK!! i got an assignment about derailleurs and i just hit a brick wall, one of the questions ask 'what is the process of manufacturing derailleurs'

May anyone help me!

I think they die cast them but not sure

Would depend on the specific model and part you are talking about. Most have parts of different material in them, so no single manufacture process will cover the whole thing, I think.

Don't really know much about it, you'd have to talk to a bicycle component manufacturer.

where can i find I? i rang up like Campagnolo and Shimano companies and like 3 bike shops and they dont noe or told me that is private information!! lol sigh

i know that all the nuts and adjusting bolts are all cold work and drawn out

maybe ask an Industrial Designer about the manufacturing process.

Perhaps you could put this exploded view of a derailleur in your assignment and then nominate the manufacturing process for each component. It seems possible to me that you could make a reasonable guess at the process for nearly all of the parts.

derailleur outter case: die casted

springs and screws: cold drawn

Inner plates of derailleur: drop forged
