Spring Classics

Paris-Roubaix, Flanders, Milan-San Remo, and a whole lot more.

Who's your pick for the big ones? Can't dispute that Boonen is in excellent form right now, but can he knock off Spartacus!?!? Throw Sagan in for extra spice and we should be in for some good spring classics this year! Can't wait!

Im a classics lover too Gavin, and each of the monuments is watched eagerly from my lounge room with beer, coffee and cake ...I always invite a few cycling mates to join me to watch it, comment on the tactics and moves and basically talk trash. You are most welcome to join us if you are a solo watcher in your household. Im at Flinders.

Thanks Marcus. I'll have to check my roster closer to the date. Was working for Flanders last year which meant I got paid to watch it :D can't complain with that!

Well last weekend was good. Boonen failing at Omloop, but made up for it in Kuurne- Brusell - Kuurne.
Interesting to see them still riding on the footpaths against UCI rules.... a bit cheeky and unfair I think.

Strade-Bianche this weekend! The first Sagan-Cancellara classics battle for the year. A lot of big names in their too!

Well looks like I'll be getting paid to watch the first of the Monuments tonight. Night shift while Milan-San Remo is on :D

Sagan & Cav have got to be the favourites, but really hoping there's some excitement, maybe Gilbert, Van Avermaet, Cancellara in the mix.

Bring on tonight. I hope the weather is a little less harsh then last year. Not to much though, it is a classic after all

I stayed up and watched it so have been a little tired today. Nibali's attack certainly turned the heat up! Cavendish just didn't have the legs for the sprint, even Cancellera out sprinted him. Kristoff went like a train and no one was going to catch him.

Yeah I watched most of it. Great race. Quite an exciting last 30km, and the Eurosport commentators are extremely enthusiastic which made it very entertaining. Nibali's attack was suicide, but his descending was fantastic! Good to see a few attacks. There was certainly no one better than Kristoff in the sprint. No lead out for him at all and basically won the sprint from the front! Did well to get over those last few hills and be on the front with a body size like him. He looks a similar size to Greipel, who was clearly suffering on the back.

Sagan was looking good and I was surprised to see him not really feature at all in the contest for the line.

Disappointing for Cancellara. Let's see what he can do at Flanders and Roubaix.

He had Paolini there keeping him fresh right until the end I believe.

Yep -
He'll be better at Roubaix.

Must have been something to behold, 140 pro cyclists fighting for space on a footpath !
