What's the fastest you've gone fully loaded?

Hi All,

What's the fastest speed you've ever acheived on your loaded tourer and where did you do it?

I'll go first, 86kmh, Bogong High Plains Rd other side of Falls Creek on my way to Omeo late last year.

Downhill or on the flats?

I prefer under power ie on flats. 38.3kph on a sealed rd after being chased by a magpie on fully loaded thorn.
And 37.9kph on dirt after being chased by march flies....

92km down a mountain in Italy... Front and rear panniers loaded and tent etc. Was good fun although I need to recheck the video to confirm the speed but it was in the 90 something

talk to just4thehallibut ... he's a big lad, with a big bike that has a big load carrying capacity.

He mightn't go much for this 'aero tuck' rubbish, but he's a fairly intimidating one man avalanche. Just be grateful he stays on the roads!

That was in the 90's so no video going down I just filmed the speedo so I had proof of the speed.

Unloaded, downhill, with tail wind (Arthur's Pass NZ), and the brakes on... 78km/h. Did not want to go faster due to cross winds that could blow you off the road and down the mountain. So managed 78 in the bits that were sheltered and slowed significantly where exposed.

Can't be sure as there was no way I could look down at the computer. Around 70kph at a guess, squeezing the brakes hard as I could not to run into the back of the ambulance, and the camper at the bottom moved forward just in time.

Rarely let my loader tourer go - there's no way of telling if you've packed the front panniers correctly and you won't get a nasty headshake at high speed. And some of the hairpins - if you went off they'd never find you.
