Hmm, good luck with that. Sydney had a miserable wet week. It did do 82km today but I was bored like hell and took the short way home. I'm up to 4503km for this year. So if I can pull off a few more 500km weeks, I'll have my 6000km for the year. :)

Well done on getting through 1000km. :)
When you get there you can take the rest of the year off :-)

Stupid amount of rain here. Nice today but houseworks beckons.

Got out yesterday for a ride on the beach.

When the daylight saving ends, the distance will drop considerably per week. I'll only ride on the weekends and do indoor training during the week.

Well I'm in.

I've been riding 160+ weekly (in 4 rides of 42 kays) since the start of the year and looked at the odo on the bike (no high tech stuff) which had just over 2k km on it. I would be on track for 10K with a bit of effort, but can't ride at all due to work between June and October. So 6K seems about right.

We'll see. Easy to maintain this rate, the great white hope is to provide some incentive to get back on the bike in Oct. brave the magpies and keep my cycling fitness at a more stable level over the year than has been the case in the past. It would be nice to begin 2015 with my fitness as it is now.

2001 kays so far, for the year of 2014 This is doable.

Welcome PapaJohn. You are well on track to getting there.

My mileage for last month was 651kms so an improvement.

I am attempting the 30 days of biking for April so it should improve for this month.

Could this form the basis of a 6K Club sub-challenge...HAHAHA.

Keep up the good work all.

Sounds like a great idea, I'm in for 30 days in April. It may be what I need to push me over 1,000 km for the month.

Happy with my March - 785 km & 9,622m elevation, which leaves me well on track for 8k for the year.

30 days in April will be interesting...a few holidays in there...now how do I break this challenge to the wife and kids

30 days in April - admirable challenge. No can do for me. I've got a few weekends committed - no possibility of cycling at all on those. 20, 60 kay (or even 80) days might work, but I'm really not that ambitious.

Go for it guys.

Rain here this morning after a very stormy night, but thanks to the challenge I was out there earlier getting wet and having fun :-)

I did 60km yesterday - cut the ride short due to the storm mentioned above. I was absolutely terrified of getting stuck in that! Got home just in enough time.

4746km for the year.

Crikey Mustang, that's no good, but listen to the Doc, these things can go wrong!

I did my toughest ride for a while with a mixed terrain Audax ride out of Bilpin in the Blue Mountains, the distance was only 116km but with 1700m of climbing (and most of that in the last 50km) it was a tough one. Pain aside the scenery was fabulous, saw heaps of birds and wallabies and grey kangas as I pedalled along.

I accidently did some mixed terrain out that way a couple of years ago. I was stupidly following the GPS down a closed road (Mt Irvine) http://www.strava.com/activities/23528374" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Beautiful country.

You'll just have to take your proverbial medicine and wait. :( Frustrating, but you'll get there.

I knocked over the Gran Fondo 4 on Strava today with 136km and testing a different saddle:

That was actually my first time around Parramatta Park on the bike.

I managed to crack out 340-odd Km in the Murray to Moyne this year (Echuca - Port Fairy route). I started off with a 180Km first leg to get the Strava Gran Fondo 4 out of the way, but paid for it later into the evening when the southerlies whipped up to 30+kph - it was hard going! All in all I had another fantastic weekend and cranked over 10k Km on the CAAD10 Berzerker - it is still going like the clappers too!

Another milestone (of sorts) is that I've now been on the bike for 18-months and have managed to cover 19k Km in that time and trimmed the beltline substantially - which was well and truly needed. No, I'll never be a 80Kg Rouleur, but if I can get beneath the ton over winter, I'll be a happy camper...lol

Keep up the good work all - some great efforts being posted from all over the place.

cheers

Started the second week of 30days of biking with a good spin out to Dapto and back via Paynes Hill. I really didn't feel like climbing today but glad I did, feeling great now and I'm beginning to get closer to the target :-)

2251 kays now. I've got the bug. Only started riding again to get some fitness up and had a good ride today. Took 4 minutes off my last best time, over 42 kays, in spite of inhaling some sort of insect and choking for a couple of kays. Time to switch bikes. I promised myself if I got back in the zone again, I'd dust off the old Pug and see what can be done. I'm there now. It'll be worth making the change at this point.

I've been riding my old fav.(I've ridden this bike since 1974!) with 27 x 11/4 inch wheels and tyres running at 80 psi and with 6 gears; the steps are not to be taken lightly. I've gained one, the next (5th) is a long way off as a regular thing, but does get used now and again, maybe in another month or so, but now I'm wanting to see.

The Pug has 12 and they are closer ratios. I must work it out one day. It also has 700c /20 tyres at a much higher pressure, much lighter wheels yatta yatta. It was always good for at least 3kph in average speed, and spins up a treat. (its flat here. We get wind. ) Dust it off, look closely at the rubber. It's not so comfortable, as the old ride but can be ridden quickly.

Once again, I'm interested. I've got the bug. (always happens when I'm feeling good about something.) I always ride the same route. Boring? Doesn't have to be. Change bikes. All sorts of things change. I might even take the Surly LHT and do the shopping in the other town, occasionally. Then it's just a ride, with purpose, albeit somewhat sedate. For easy days, when I just want to do the distance. I'm happy with a couple of harder rides a week. Not getting into any of that anaerobic stuff though.

We've got rain coming. I don't mind rain, but I hate getting into the wet shoes the next day. LHT is the go in the wet - bigger tyres, mudguards. A little drier anyway, if a little slow. Nice bike to travel on.

And the weight? Yeah well I'm not carting around 8kg that I was on Jan 1.

The Strava 6K club seems to have disappeared, any ideas?

Also on Strava, I manually upload rides, and it keeps getting the date wrong - I click on the calendar for the date, it displays in normal format (ie, today is 9/4/14) but uploads in the insane US format (where today would be 9/4/14), thus my ride becomes 4 Sept 2014. Very strange, so now I just type in the date.

Anyone else having similar problems?

Will have to look into it, think my rides are uploading normally.

Passed the 2000 mark yesterday

I'm over 5000km now, but as I predicted with the end of daylight savings, my resolve to do big kilometres has gone.

Need to get myself some Ayup lights. ;) But I'm doing plenty of training in Athlete Lab. 8)
