QUEENSLAND ROAD RULES FOR CYCLISTS

Postby beauyboy » Sat Aug 30, 2008 11:45 am

As this keeps coming up here is the link to the Queensland Transport page on the road rules that apply to cyclists that are different or special compared to other road users.

Interesting roundabout laws? they terrorise me, is it best to stay left of the lane or assume the position of a car untill through them?

In my experience it is much safer to get into the centre lane and act like a car i.e. take the lane. Having to give way to a vehicle coming up behind you that can legally cut in front of you is an accident waiting to happen.

Yes I whole heartly agree that law is completely stupid and gives some knowable bogon the right to run a cyclist off the road.
This is one of the laws that the CBD BUG wish the government to have amended.

That said Multi-lane roundabouts in many cases are just plain dangerous. Give me a single lane roundabout or a lighted intersection.

You might want to update or delete this thread as I clicked on the link and got "Requested page not found".

If I can find an updated link, I will post it.

Do I need to keep my head light at a certain angle between the front fork and the road? I've got a new Lezyne light and it is really bright. I'm afraid I'll blind drivers/other cyclists with it.
