Anyone else watch it?
I watched a replay of the XCE, slippery slidey race with few Aussies. When it came to the Downhill today that was a different story. The speed of the mens Downhill was insane with the technically difficult sections coupled with difficult conditions and mud packed sections.
Tomorro the mens and womens XC is on - live strea via redbull.
Cheers
Christopher

Went out to the track yesterday morning for a look, the expo are was a mud pit but the track had dried out nicely. Some good viewing points along sections of the track, it was only pratice and the riders were getting a feel for the XC course.

+1 to the mud pit. Unfortunately I got called into work about 15 minutes after I paid my entry into the place, but did manage to check one of the sections from the XCE. That bit where there was the big root and the drop off - quite a few spills there. Looked pretty benign on the TV, but was insane when viewed at the actual location. I've reserved the TV for this arvos finals.

The redbull coverage was pretty poor IMO, made it look much tamer than it really was. If you want to get a feel for how insane the course was, take a look at this:
I would struggle to walk down mush of that in those conditions.
Evidently a spectator who was taking back a bike for an injured competitor was egged on by the crowd to ride thought so too, and came off the worst for it.
Here's a view of how steep some sections are:

I watched the broadcast on SBS2. Much better quality than watching it on the internet.

The internet was fine for me, I was running it through Apple TV.
It was just the following day for the Mens XC, at the exciting bit where Absalon was looking to take the lead the coverage got really bad. I though it was cos the kids were blocking up the internet and was tearing my hair out. Remembered SBS and they had the same problems so it was unwatchable for a while.
I got the feeling for the technicality of the track, that rock section was pretty intense.
