To be honest I'd ride 200km/day if I had the time, but 3 hours in the saddle is about all I can afford.

I wonder how long my knees will last at this rate. 2 years going strong, but I wasnt doing as many km in the previous years. I'm hoping to keep it up for another 5 years at least.
100km a day  . You must be thin as a rake  . The pro's dont even ride that much?
Actually im finding it really difficult to loose the weight around my waist. Theres still about 5kg that i could loose. It doesnt help that i like to eat a at least a packet of lollies everyday. I even do a couple of hours weightlifting if i have time at work (Im an Exercise Physiologist) and even that deosnt help with the weight loss.

I remember Lance Armstrong saying he spends 6 hours per day on the bike. That would mean he would would be doing at least 60000km per year

Nice :)

On knees - I have quite damaged knees and lots of wear, but if anything my knees have improved with cycling mileage. I don't quite average 100km/day, but it has been about 75 a day for the last 3 years, and the knees feel as good as they have for 10 or 15 years :)

Interesting you say that.... My various ongoing aches and pains aren't noticeable when I am doing 60+km a day but if I stop for a couple of days they come back with a vengeance!
Solution; just keep riding!

your consistent cycling is probably helping to reduce the arthritis that's forming in your knees.

I'm currently on 3,622 so on-target to get my 10,000 kms for 2014.

Some the tallys here are seriously impressive.
It would not be at all strange if history came to the conclusion that the perfection of the bicycle was the greatest achievement of the nineteenth century.

Good to see a bit of movement in this thread. I'm on track to pass 6k by the end of May, I'd reckon, so 10K is looking reachable this year. The riding in Vic has been fantastic up untl now, but I know the winter lull is fast approaching and I wil choose my days wisely this year to stay as well as possible!

cheers

Strange you should mention that. Had to catch a Met train last month and had a very sore throat for a few days afterwards...

Yeah, been going OK for me mileage wise, pretty early in the year to be breaking 10K :)

Actually did a bit over 100 days in a row from early dec to late march - some harder rides, a lot of cruising, some gentle lazing about about. Doesn't really prove much except a) I have spare time each day and b) I had over 100 days in a row without rain - 1 week each in bris, Canberra and sth coast NSW, reminder in melb. I rarely ride in rain. Anyway, winter will be cooler, wetter and generally quieter, but dang enjoyed the riding this summer while it was nice :)

I'm in, my goal for this year is 20,000km. I just ticked over my first 10,000km since picking up a road bike in September.

i've been doing a lot of racing so finding it harder to rack up the km - spending a lot of days in recovery mode. do i push the km to build form or ease off to allow recovery? dilemmas...

Just use races as training... You can't build form and target a race every weekend.

Get well soon Bill.

Whilst not as grave, I've done some damage to my neck/shoulder area - not whilst riding - and have had the past few days off. It is as sore as buggery, but I hope to be able to get into it again by midweek - the lack of riding, particularly missing a couple of great local bunch rides and a race that I really wanted to enter, is killing me!

Keep up the good work all.

cheers

5000kms down. Am down on last year but don't care. More concerned about climbing metres (which I'm JUST ahead of last year)
