and finally got around to taking pictures of my other bike, a very early 90s Rod Martin custom triathlon bike which once belonged to a female Australian triathlete who was once of the best triathletes in the world during the 2000s (can't recall her name at the moment). Rod Martin is based in Gosford and his shop is still open. Have not visited yet, but I hear it is still open. Sloping top tube aluminium frame with carbon threaded fork, super clean joins/welding. Bought as is, running mostly 6400 with a Superbe Pro crankset. I changed the wheels to Ultegra 6500 laced to Deep Vs and added a 90s Flite.

Looks great fella!minhyy wrote:Been a few weeks in the making.. a Shogun Celeste Beau which I believe to be from around 1988. Bought this from Wazza, and I think this also once belonged to LG too. All of the components are from 87 (Turbo), 88 (frame+fork) and 89 (6400 group). Cinelli XA stem and Giro bars from the same period too. 6400 hubs laced to Mavic Open 4CD.

Just having a stab in the dark i'd say late 50s-60s. Have a look over the wheel hubs, cranks and saddle, if you're lucky you might find date codes. I'm no expert on serial numbers or Malvern Stars so can't help there.Jenny1977 wrote:Any idea on model/year. Serial number 43314 on rh dropout

One of the most famous "Aussie" brands, though not as much a household name as Malvern Star.ldrcycles wrote:Repco.coldst wrote:Can anyone identify this logo? It's the front badge on a bike I just picked up.
Repco became a big selling brand in the 80's, probably as a result of being able to utilize the manufacturing boom in Asia to market decent bikes at a competitive price.
Some history here

find a serial number and see if it corresponds with any raleigh serial number formats online.
if not, research the components and see if any have a date code you can decipher.
good luck.

if you have questions about a recent acquisition, start a thread: much easier to keep the information in one particular thread

It's built at Presto Amsterdam by Jan van Dalen (Duell) who worked there between 1987 and early nineties. It's pretty cool to see his signature marks on the frame as well as the original Presto / Jan Legrand details.
Because Presto mostly made / make road bikes this randonneur is special on its own.
Built up with Shimano parts (Biopace Crank and M-700 'Deer Head' front and back derailleur, brakes, levers) SR stem, steer and seat post and Mavic rims with Panaracer Tour Guard tires and Vetta Saddle and front rack (back rack not attached), all original. Maybe the best thing is it came with the original bill:)
Let me know what you think!
