Hi all.
New to bikes here and am completely over whelmed with choosing a bike. I have decided I would like a hybrid as I will be riding a mix of road and trail. Probably 75% road. I have narrowed it down to the either the polygon heist 3.0 for $550 or the trek 8.3 DS for $650. I currently live in a fairly flat area in Cairns but will prob be moving up the hill to an area called Speewah which is a lot hillier and has more trails to ride.
Any advice would be great and I am open to a completely different bike. Max spend would be about $850
trek 8.3 or polygon heist 3.0

If you can get to the Polygon 4.0 in your budget (and get a better colour than light blue!) then thats the way I'd go. It a pretty good spec with the Deore components the Polygon 4.0. The Trek 8.4 ds might be out of your budget. You could also look at the Giant Roam range. Or if it had to be a choice between the polygon 3.0 and the Trek 8.3ds then maybe the Trek - just but nothing in it.
Test ride them and see if you can pick the smoothest most solid/comfortable ride and choose that one.
Good luck.

Thanks for the response and the info. Had a look at the giant bikes and really like the roam 2. Anyone had any experience with that bike.

Yeah the Roam 2 while a nice bike is still in that polygon heist 3.0 trek 8.3ds Acera group level of bikes.
Bicycles online has a decent offer on a 2013 polygon heist 5.0 for $598 at the moment with Deore components that might be worth checking out

They are also on bikeexchange.com.au offering a 14 day free trial. (You can also look around on bikeexchange for any others you are interested in as its where all the bike shops put their good specials on)
