It was acrylic paint and thankfully came surprisingly easily off the bike other than the underside of the front forks where it had embedded itself into the pre-existing scratches there (black paint now with white scratches, mmmm). In some places the paint I was peeling off was a couple of mm thick!! The wheels were a bit harder to clean and the tyres needed scrubbing with a scourer, but it's all gone now. Will be working on my riding gloves tonight. I am considerably less stressed than earlier this morning - my beloved C59 is back in its original condition again, phew...

I will be reporting it to the M7 office tomorrow.

I went through this morning at about 6.30 and went straight through the thick white paint which spelt out a name, it soon came off the tyres during the next 10 kms or so of riding and i have just one or two minor spots on the bike. I'm surprised other rider's bikes are such a mess.

For what it's worth, I wasn't affected as I'm home sick, but as a fellow m7 rider I'm concerned about these posts. I've PM'd Anne-Marie@M7 to draw attention to this problem. Hope everyone is ok with this.

There have been a few accidents across the long weekend too - one at Rooty Hill today (which I didn't see) and another one down near the Serbian Club which was just one of those things that can happen in bunch riding.

Take care out there everyone.

Hi all

Our shared path maintenance team have already spotted the latest vandelism with the paint on the path and will be on to it as soon as they can. Please remember we are a 24/7 operation and it is always worth reporting the incident - particularly when it interferes with safe use of the path - straight away to 9834 9200.

We have some CCTV coverage from the motorway to the shared path around the Lamb st and Simms Road areas and have asked our Control Room operators to scan these areas of an evening when the activity seems to occur.

We will continue to report to the Police.

Thanks

I was out on the path late saturday afternoon around 4pm. The paint was already on the path then. It seemed pretty fresh at the time. I suspect it was put down some time during saturday afternoon. I was surprised that they would have done it in the middle of the day on a saturday with lots of riders about. I was on my MTB with my son and we rode on the grass around it.

The lights illuminating the bridge at Kensington Close over the M7 to Twentyseventh Avenue has been down for about 1 week.
When I rode past last Friday and even up to last night, it was pitch black.

Hello

I have asked our Maintenance Team about this, and it seems that the feed cable was damaged by rodents or birds (unknown but it looks like one of the two) and the circuit breaker was tripping out. The lights have had to be isolated (switched off) for the meantime. We are getting quotes to repair this at the moment, and will keep you updated as to when it will be fixed!

As always, if you have any concerns about the shared path/motorway and need something to be looked at, you can call us 24/7 on (02) 9834 9200 or email info@westlinkm7.com.au (goes to myself and reception who can follow up when I'm not here).

Thanks for the comment :)

Hi all,
The last couple of afternoons I've noticed a stray shopping trolley near the bend at the Power St exit. This afternoon as I was heading north, it was precariously placed as you come around the bend - noting that someone had shifted it closer to the bend between the time I returned from the bubbler.

Might be worthwhile taking it easy through there. Also of note, that whole area is littered with empty cases of beer/spirits - looks like the locals must be gathering during the cold of night!

Cheers
Dave

Just to add to that , as most are aware now is School Hols, so that means more of the inbred little darlings will be emerging from their caves onto the cycleway !!

Just a quick thanks to the M7 crew for the nice work on the bridge joint near the Serbian club (Cowpasture Rd overbridge). Cheers.

Yes shiny new metal plate. Makes crossing much smoother.

Just a caution, while riding past an area tonight, there was something burning in the bushes.
Lots of smoke although I didn't see anyone.
This area is on a small incline between the peak of bridge on the Hoxton Park Rd to the bottom of the bridge towards Bernera Rd/ Jedda Rd underpass.
If I'm riding toward the Serb Club, it'll be on my left.

I'd love to know why the bridge joints appear to have gotten worse over the last couple years... seems there has been 5-10mm of subsidence. I'm no engineer - I guess I'm wondering if we can expect this to get worse?
