Came home in hope of mine being here, but disappointment ensued. Probably needs an extra day to get up this end of the state. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Well I gave the new Fly6 a go on my 4pm commute today. Be interested to hear what others think, but on 1st impression I'm a little disappointed with the video quality. Very hard to make out number plates unless the vehicle is directly behind you or not moving at all. Maybe need to angle the camera slightly towards the center of the road. I used VLC player with frame by frame viewing. My old $50 Jumbo HD808 is much better quality.

What are you thoughts guys?

Same here. I wasn't expecting GoPro quality footage but I thought it would be a bit better (maybe this could be addressed in a firmware update like GoPro did but who knows). Re number plates. Like most wide angle cameras there is that sweet spot. Its the same for cheap cameras all the way up to "dafaq I'm paying that much just for a dslr camera lens". I didn't have many issues with being able to read number plates, phone numbers and logos in the afternoon. During the night footage was......less than average.

All that being said its still a good little camera. Mounting, changing between bikes etc is just piss easy! It comes with 2 mounts which is great as you can set it up on two different bikes and not have to worry ie aero seat posts and standard seat posts. Easy to operate while riding. Easy to find out if its recording :P Does everything I expected it to do which is a camera recording what's happening behind with good battery life.

Just a question......can the cam be used with the light system off. Wondering if it can be used on the front as well.

Sort of yes. The main flashing lights can be switched off but the small rotating leds can't.

Not sure how an expectation of GoPro quality footage has crept in. It is 720p and AVI format. So fairer to compare with more simple style cameras.
The conditions will significantly impact the video footage quality - so darkness and rain will make it difficult to read the numberplate.

In average conditions you may have to 'scrub' the video back and forth to identify the numberplate. It still serves the purpose of the Fly6 being a safety cam rather than a sports action cam and in my tests it wasn't long before I stopped looking at the footage. It becomes a bike light with a backup safety function. If I recall, it was about being cost prohibitive to increase the resolution but could come in the future.

I operate a 1080p Mobius camera as a dashcam in the car and was surprised how hard it was to still read moving number plates from the footage. Unless the vehicle was dead in the middle of the footage, it wasn't readable. Peripheral quality is poor.

Those that have received fly6 orders, was the final delivery by Australia Post or a courier?

LoL. Just something that has been up the Bruce Highway a few too many times.

Got home and spied the AustPost package sitting on the bench, and thought the truck had finally made it. Turns out it was only some jerseys.

Stupid truck!

Got mine yesterday, impressive box. Reassuringly chunky and the light it good.
Hard to make number plates, but as a safety cam. The unit rocks!

Mine arrived yesterday via the Aus post courier. Packaging is very nice and it appears to be a quality product. Mounting it was very easy so now apart from charging it, I hope I never have to check the video!
