Did you end up getting a Anker 40w charger? If you did any suggestions on a quality (I guess eBay) source?RonK wrote:Amazon won't deliver here, but there are plenty on eBay. Will order one soon.

Looking at the tech docs it is really a bit of 'meh' for touring. Aside from the afore-mentioned disc-brake and belt-drive compatibility, its only other virtue seems to be a nicer 12-16% gear step across the range. For the one extra gear over the Alfine 8 you are still left with just a 292% range (Alfine 8 is 309%). Somewhat inadequate for more adventurous loaded touring.Aushiker wrote:One for those interested in internal gear hubs. Looks like SRAM has a new model coming out, the G9. Going by a Amazon listing it is 36H disc ready and it also comes in a belt version ...

I have ordered one after waiting some time for a more reasonable price, but it has not yet arrived. I will post more once I have received it.Aushiker wrote:Did you end up getting a Anker 40w charger? Eight hour battery life = pass. To many things to charge as it is.RonK wrote:If heart rate monitor chest bands give you the willies, the answer may be a Scosche Rhythm+ Heart Rate Monitor Armband.

Of course, it came with a HK power cord but I'd anticipated that and have plenty of cords so no problem.
The Anker looks like a quality unit, and is quite compact - roughly the size of two iPhone chargers. I wasted no time putting it to the test, with an iPad Mini, iPhone, Magellan Cyclo, Shimano Sports Cam and Sony RX100 digital camera all connected and charged in good time.
Exactly what I wanted it for, so I'm delighted. I need carry only one charger on tour and can charge all my devices at the same time.

Good news. Do you have the seller's details?RonK wrote:The Anker 40W 5 port USB charger arrived this week. I ordered it from a HK eBayer who offered a reasonable price and free postage. At $45 it was still more expensive than the Amazon store but the point is moot since Amazon won't ship here.

This is going to be my backup battery - just need to find a retailer. Once again, Amazon desn't ship here. Available on eBay for around $130 inc. shipping but will no doubt come down.
