I have an Altura jacket which has served me well for 3 years, but the zip is finally dying. My only issue with the jacket is that it is a bit flappy and catches the wind a bit, despite being quite well fitted in the torso.
I'm even consider just getting a long sleeve compression top (skins) and a getting a separate rain overcoat for when it rains.
Can anyone recommend me a slim fitting jacket that is rainproof? Any other suggestions?

Excellent cut for riding. I usually wear it over just a base layer, maybe one more layer if it's really cold.
My only complaint is it doesn't have any pockets, but as long as your jersey does you can still reach up under it.

Castelli Gabba always gets rave reviews, including many well published reports of those in the pro peloton who are sponsored by other team clothing manufacturers wearing them in cold / changeable conditions (although colouring in any Castelli branding with a black marker).
It is almost a race cut jacket though and they arent particularly cheap (not sure how much you are wanting to spend), although can be found on sale from time to time...
What also might appeal is that they offer a convertible jacket. The arms have zips and thus can be worn as a full jacket or as more of a short sleeved jacket if it starts to get too warm.

I've got the Ground Effect Turbine http://www.groundeffect.co.nz/product/RAI/TUR which is snug and comfy.
