Look, bike thieving is a complicated profession these days.

It's hard to be sure what you've pinched.

^ What's the wheelbase on those Flying Gates? It looks like it'd be ~30mm less than a comparable 'regular' road bike.

It is the seller that is missing some things (10 a sense of value & (2) a buyer - the bike has been regularly listed at that price for over 12 months. In shocking news, no-one is interested in buying. Maybe that will change, but its not the way to bet

I wrote to the bloke selling this nice old MTB to let him know Bauer are kiwi not german and he responded with a wikipedia link (in German) about a manufacturer that apparently went bust in the late 60s and have only made "artistic" bikes since and "Do at least some research before you’re bothering people with your bulllshit, Klugscheisser!"

Apparently Klugscheisser is german for smart alec or words to that effect.

Maybe the seller should have done some more research - it appears that it is worth $15 more if the same bike comes from NZ

Interesting bike. Can't comment on its value, but isn't that chain stay tyre clearance a bit small for a mountain bike?

rare or not, any bike thats been "ridden hard" and "had parts replaced" and "comes with seat clamp that needs to be modified" "has non original parts but look good" and "parts about to give up the ghost" must make one wonder where the value and rarity is? it isnt exactly my idea of "original". someone please educate me as i m not sure i see the worth in this one. and its ugly too.
