That's a deep drop handlebar. What model is it? And what's going on with the seatpost clamp? It looks like it's facing the wrong way.

Handlebar is SR world custom, that angle seems to work ok with my hands, does it look odd?
I have a new seat post coming, that one is the odd style with clamp and post separate.

This is my '86-'87 Peugeot PGN10t (Triathlon).
Frame and fork are 501, components are Simplex derailleurs, Stronglight crank, Weinmann 405 brakes, Atax quill stem and quill seatpost, Phillipe bars, Selle Triathlon saddle, Mavic MA2 rims and Maillard hubs.
Rear shifting isn't indexed, which after riding Shimano equipped bikes from the same period takes a little getting used to. I took the Maillard/Christophe toe clips off for the moment.
It's very comfortable to ride and not that difficult to get used to the shifting. I think some gumwalls and a good polish are in order at some point.

Thanks. That photo is a few years old. Nowadays it has Zeus cranks and Mafac 2000 centrepulls instead of Racers.

Just got it back home, have to dial it in and to be honest the weather has been crap in Canberra last two days - Fog and 3deg C all day yesterday and looks like the same today - Thanks for all the positive comments gents , fingers crossed may be getting a rebuilt EM Corsa Extra back today

I've been spending a fait bit of time riding with my 15yo daughter who has an old 18 speed flat bar shogun mixte as her main bike. Her complete lack of desire to change from her preferred gear has led me to put this together for her. This frame is/was a Launceston McBain 'Maxwell Cycles' which has been resprayed to her colour choice with glitter sprinkled under the top clear coat, it was chosen for a SS as the rear spacing was only 115mm. Built with spare parts from the shed, sugino mighty cranks, exceltoo track hubs laced to wolber rims, KKT pro ace pedals, 105 brake levers and a set of SR randonneur bars. Looking to move to some dual pivot long reach callipers rather than the cheapie weinmanns if I can find some. Anyway, it seems to ride quite nicely so will see how she goes.

Is it possible to re-route the rear brake cable so that the outer can approach the brake from the bottom? That would look better and work better IMO.

I agree it would look better but these specific brakes can't have the housing stop and the clamp swapped and were the only ones I have in the correct reach, so was stuck with coming in from the top. I have a couple peugeot mixtes' and they're great as the brake sits on a bracket between the twin tubes, so it's a direct straight cable run. I thought about drilling a hole in the chainstay bridge and mounting it there.

I had the same problem LG. On my wife's bike the bridge between the twin tubes would have been perfect as it already has a hole. Changing to 700c wheels meant the hole was too far out even with Tektro 559 calipers (53-73 mm).

I thought about Cameron's suggestion of routing it from underneath. The late great Sheldon suggests what he described as an inelegant solution of a cable anchor bolt. I stumbled across Odyssey Knarps Cable Ends which look a lot neater. Could do with some further cleaning up & the rest of the bike still needs plenty of love, but it is now rideable & that makes SWMBO happy

I have since found a rear brake for this bike with the reversible cable setup, so it's a little aesthetically more pleasing, but functioning is still not great with the long outer cable run and sweeping curve. Sadly there's no bridge between the twin tubes a-stern of the seat tube otherwise that would have been my go to option. My daughter was enjoying this bike prior to winter settling in, and I look forward to more bike time with her come spring.

I've got a lot of bikes but not as many as I have had in the past and I do recall the days when I had one bike starting with a Nuovo Record equipped Daccordi - I loved that bike. I've had quite a few times in my life when I've owned just one bike at a time - a couple of 5 Stars, Kypo, De Grandi, Pinarello and a Bob Jackson. They were my only form of transport but I had such a great time with each of them. My current excessive quantity of bikes just can't make-up for the enjoyment of I felt when I owned just one beautiful and well used bike.
