You can get 26" v-brake Sids pretty cheap now.

Ooooo...I like that. Despite the hyper extended rear stays. That'd be a keeper.

Did you make the brackets with nothing but the hand tools shown ? Very impressive. Don't think the wheel spacers in the back left will be used on a bike

Thanks! There better that original, made them completely vertical to aid wheel removal.

Started with two 100x100x10 plates traced the drops on them cut the excess off with a band saw and planed them down to 8mm, the rest done with what's on the bench. Quite happy I pull it off without mistakes. Car wheel spacers are crap!!

custom dropouts, now thats pretty cool, and pretty hardcore, gives me a bit of motivation in possibly knocking up some disk compatible dropouts in the future for my flatbar. Some clear room on your workbench also makes me a little envious. BTW very interesting canti-Vs on that Apollo mounted under the chainstay.

The brakes on the Apollo are actually Suntour licensed Cunningham roller cams.

I had one f these way back when... A Specialized Stumpjumper M2.

This one's in a pretty sorry state so it's getting striped back to the bone and restored. Haven't decided exactly what to do with it yet.
Decisions decisions....

After photos will follow... in a few weeks.

I see potential with this bike. What are you going to do about the fork, saggy elastomers or springs ? I've seen Manitou elastomers but not for Rockshox.

Got a set of rigid chromoly forks for it. It's going to be a street bike so wont need suspension. I know that will drop the front end a bit but it wont upset the geometry enough to be a problem. Looking forward to building this. :)

Speaking of upsetting geometry, have you seen the length of that stem? I can't believe we used to ride with these, yikes.

Hehe, I found a picture of my old Spesh Ground Control FSR from '97 earlier this month. 150mm stem on that, all my previous GT's had that kinda length on as well, it's no wonder that older riders are very good at bailing out of endos! :D

Wow, I had one of those as a warranty replacement for an Avalanche frame that cracked and after Karakoram of the same era that got stolen. Same forks, bar ends etc. great paint jobs on those early GT's. I still have a GT LS jersey in the blue and yellow splash scheme.

I bought this GT Pantera awhile back, striped it down and started buying up new parts to replace various bits. The old Rock Shox went into the too hard basket, replaced with some Gusset Jury SL rigids.

When I peeled off all the crappy No Fear and Rock Shox stickers I found the paint underneath had faded at a different rate to the exposed sections, so I now have ghost stickers on it.

Also, you can't tell in the photo but about 60-70% of the frame was covered in some kind of very thick, clear stickers. I assume it was to protect the paint from chips and scratches, but the application is bodgy at best, different shapes cut out and applied all over the shop.

So now I have a conundrum, I'd like to have it repainted and get original decals onto it but can't afford to do so. I could strip it DIY style and then polish the ally (the Zaskers look nice shined to almost chrome), but that's lots of hard work, I'd still need decals and I honestly prefer the gunmetal paint. Or I leave it in it's ratty state, put the bike back together and ride it. Maybe I'll do it properly one day.

Is there a middle chainring i can't see or is that an odd double combo?

The big ring is definitely non standard, looks more like something you'd find on a roadie. Will have to check teeth count when I get home. I think it was still a triple and it's the granny that you can't really see.
